DF 95 SUMMER SERIES ROUND THREE 13th June 2021
Sixteen skippers turned out for round three on probably the hottest day of the year, with high pressure all around the breeze was fluky and unstable and was going to be a test for all.
We welcomed two visitors on the day and Mick C lent his boat to Peter Helen but did have a couple of goes himself. Jen H 69 quick out of the blocks as usual won the first race , with Roger B 448 finishing a close second, Peter Cogill 110 1st time out with a DF 95 got a very creditable 3rd . Pete W 678 was a little slow at the start of the event but got better as the morning wore on, Dave G 00 pushed the locals hard with a series of consistant results, and Alan N 438 probably had one of his best results he has ever had and should be very pleased.
No critisism intended, but the start line was far to short for a fleet of 16 boats and more should be done in future to get the dingy launched and make some changes that may be needed to the race course, enough said.
Jen H had so far won 6 races from 9 and was looking like a worthy winner but her last three races did not go her way, Martin A 877 had a fantastic last three races in fact winning one of them, Roger B 448 also came good towards the end with some very consistant results. Billy M 452 probably sailing his last race due to a move further down south supplied loads of cake for his send off which was enjoyed by most, Good luck Billy come back and see us soon.
Tim Cripps I feel is struggling with a knee injury, and we all know what thats like, Gordon B was having a bad day, dont worry he will bounce back, good to see ED W going well , and for the first time out for 18 months Chaz J certainly enjoyed himself despite being stuck in one postion for the duration of racing. ie in the boot of his car .
The top three ,, it was very close with Pete W 678 taking the win on the day, Jen H and Dave G was decided on countback as you can see. A great mornings racing at the club with probably a record number of entries for the DF 95’s and long may it continue. Many thanks to Roger Bowtle who fixed the ride on for us ( Mower) before sailing and of course all the helpers who made the day enjoyable.
Well done to Pete the two wins at the end clinched it .
