A good day’s racing for the few who made it to the water’s edge, with the sun shining and a decent breeze a course was set along the east bank by Sam your race officer, ably assisted by Kevin Evison. This was a simple windward/leeward course towards the clubhouse; we sailed this course for the first four races but as the wind was going round, a small dogleg was put into the course to create two shorter beats to the windward marks. Apart from the first two races which were only one lap owing to lighter winds the remainder were two laps which gave more opportunities for place changes, all of the races were sailed in a very sporting manner with all penalties being taken without complaint. Ten races were completed with a short break after five races; Paul Kelly took the first two wins of the day with Sam then coming on strong to take the next three wins. It was Kevin Evison who came out to take the first win after the break, before Sam again found the wind gods on his side to take the last four races of the day, however these were sailed in slightly more breeze and there were many place changes, with the boats all closer together at the finish. Jen Hand did not have the best of days; however she showed great form at times to make everyone have to work hard to pass or stay ahead, a second place in the ninth race showed us all what she can bring to the party. As per usual everyone chipped in to make the Race Officers job of putting everything away at the end of racing an easy task, many thanks to you all.
