Local Accommodation

All of the following are within 3 miles of the Club, close to the A46 Western Bypass from north or south, with pubs/restaurants within walking distance.

  • The Railway Inn. Has a small number of rooms and a camping/caravan site. Often hosts our evening do’s for major Events. A shortish walk from the lake (but it’s narrow and dark, so do please wear something reflective). A convenient choice, so it can get booked up fast.
  • Travelodge. The nearest chain hotel, and a Greggs + Burger King on the doorstep if you need a last-minute energy boost in the morning! There’s a good pub/restaurant ‘over the road’, but it’s a busy road so do take care.
  • Bentley Hotel (Best Western). Also very close. Has a swimming pool and spa [but these currently under renovation till maybe late Summer 26], and a good pub/restaurant next door.
  • Ibis (Garner Hotel by IHG). Standard chain hotel, with a family-style pub and an American diner restaurant nearby.
  • Damons Hotel. The restaurant alongside is a long-standing local favourite if you’re a lover of ribs.

The Club is sometimes able to offer a limited number of spaces for motorhomes, though without any facilities. Check the particular event publicity and Notice Of Race for availability and fee.

There’s countless other hotels and B&Bs etc closer to or within Lincoln, if you’d like to make a long weekend of it. Or if seeking a convenient base for non-sailing family to go and enjoy our lovely city whilst you’re engrossed in competition at the lake.
The city centre is best for standard shopping; the uphill area is delightful for a stroll around the more historic sights, speciality shops and attractions. They’re connected by “Steep Hill” – and it is aptly-named!

Again for non-sailors – just a mile away, and dog-friendly, is 370-acre Whisby Nature Park.

Co-op, Spar, Tesco, Lidl, Asda [with the cheapest nearby fuel] are all within a mile or so of the A46 (Thorpe On The Hill) roundabout – take the north-easterly exit onto the A1434.
