What a pleasant change to have warm sailing conditions more Spring like than Xmas time, a pleasant top suit breeze, and the 13 skippers had big smiles on there faces.
Pete Walters had us set up for a box shaped course on the East bank, and it was just about a perfect beat and run course, hot of the line for the first race was Pete W 678, and a very warm welcome back to Gordon B 38 who took second spot, Mick Ch 46 got third spot and then went on the take the bullets in the next two races. Mick Cooper 53 sailed out of his skin to take second with some exceptional sailing skills in race two, and I have to say some very good performances were seen from Mike W 76 and Roger Bowtle 448 who has had quite a long lay off from racing. The racing was very keen and competitive, and with the shifts it was very easy to get caught out . Pete W 678 was not his usual self and it should be noted it always more difficult when you are race officer and have other things on your mind ( like the start line ), Jen Hand 69 appeared to be star of the day and every time I looked she seemed well out in front, in fact she won more races than anyone with 4 Bullets and some very good second places, her racing skills and tactics are getting better every week and she seemed very relaxed, maybe a weight has been lifted from her shoulders.
Mick C 46 seemed to be finding his old form but do not lets talk too soon, but as it turned out he was more consistent, and took the win by 1 point from Jen on the morning, probably most improved skipper was Mick Cooper 53, and Alan Newman must also have been pleased with his performance and getting a couple of third places in this company is no mean feat.
Got to say a very well done top Mick C 46 for his win ( you have no idea how happy I am )
All our thanks must go to Pete W our OOD and Peter Helen for doing the finishing and of course the race results, and all who helped put the kit away after racing.
Next Sunday is the last race of the year for the I,O,M class and provided the weather is fair we could have a great turnout at Scotland Farm, come along and see what radio racing is all about starts at 10 am
