Another fine day at Lincoln , great breeze great turnout and smiles all round . A bit of a switch around on the OOD front but with Darin and Tim on site early things were well advanced by the time the main body of skippers arrived, and it looked like racing was going to be on the East bank, not what the forecast said , but with the breeze veering all the time, a move to the South bank was on the cards. Rob W 97 got off to a great start winning the first race, with Darin and Cooperman taking 2nd and 3rd spots, Martyn was trying out his ,, quite old, but in superb condition TS 2. Not happy with a first race win Rob W went on to take the next two races , with Mick C taking a couple of 2nd spots with his Alioth , that seems to be going quite well ( he would say that woud’nt he)
I suppose the breeze was about 40% of top rig at that time but with the swinging more into the East it was gradually increasing. Darin took his first win just before coffee break , But Tim was certainly having a slow start to the day, and must have been glad when we shifted the racing to the South Bank ,, whilst the rest of us enjoyed our break the two young lads Darin and Tim sorted the new course , and we were all very grateful. At coffee break it looked like Robs to loose with 3 firsts and a second , but as they say it is not over until the fat Lady does something. Racing was tight up and down the fleet , Darin was giving a few tips to some skippers ( I was not one of them ) and it looked as if it had helped which is a great sign. When we resumed after coffee, Rob continued his winning way’s with another win closely followed by Mick Cooper who was having a pretty good day, in fact he led this race certainly for the first lap and maybe beyond before before Rob finally nailed him at the gate on the second time round, jen H 69 took the 3rd place. We had six different designs on show today with 6 Brit Pops outnumbering the rest, By race 7 Darin pulled a switch Rob took his foot off the gas ( not that you noticed ) and then over the ten races that we had it all got a bit to close to call , in the end you can see the top two was decided on countback the very same for third and fourth place, Jen took 5th spot just holding off the charging Cooperman but then 6th and 7th was again decided on countback. The breeze for the last 3/4 races was up to 80% of top rig and some very exciting races were had . Well done the Brit Pops The winner’s of course and many thanks to all who help get the gear put away, we shall look forward to Round 7 in a couple of weeks time .
