DF 65 SUMMER SERIES ROUND 3

An overcast morning greeted 14 skippers with Keith Holmes and Roger Bacon as Race and Assistant Race Officers.

After Keith had given the briefing, the results of the Summer Sizzle were announced. Mick Chamberlain won the 1st prize of £100, with Geoff Burrell 2nd £50, Graham Keightley 3rd £25 and Dave Geldard 4th £10. Well done to all and a big thank you for your support for the Club. The money raised has been a big help over the last months.

Keith got us off on time with a good beat down the lake and run back to a gate near the clubhouse, and other than a slight tweak on the start line position the course remained unchanged for the 15 races completed. The wind was pretty much as forecast North Easterly and about 12/15 mph. Even though we had a good breeze for the A+ rig, it was extremely fluky, and caught all out with the constant shifts and holes.

The level of racing throughout the fleet is improving week on week, and it was good to see our visitor Simon Fairman, and new member Peter Hellen.

The 15 races proved too much for some and by the last race the fleet was reduced to only 8 skippers. The return to a 1pm finish is something which will have to be looked at and voted on.

report By Jen ,

Mick says , the racing is very close looking at the results pete won two of the races but Jen won 5 so consistancy won the day, We must remember that in a series of 14 or so races you don not have to win them all !!!!! Nice to see Simon from Rofwac I am sure he enjoyed his day and good to see Geoff Burrell starting to knock on the door, I do agree we perhaps need to chat about the times for the racing and try and sort so people do not depart early. Great turnout dont miss the next round on the 25th July .

Nice one Roger
