8 Skippers arrived at the lake amid the rain that never stopped but thankfully lighter winds than we had yesterday. A mixture of A and A+ rigs were on show and initially A+ was favorite, a short course with 3 laps was laid and briefing done, Adrian ( 63 ) just got his boat on the water in time for the first start and promptly romped away with the bullitt closely followed by the two Micks. Race two Adrian again took control and was first over this time followed by Alan Edgar ( 890) with Mick Cooper have brain fade halway up the first beat, his worst result all morning and he will be left thinking whatmight have been !!!!!!. despite the teeming rain the bank was lighthearted and the racing was very very good, so all you guys who stayed in bed missed a great day. Coffee was called after 4 races and we all crammed into the shed/clubhouse for refreshments It seemed that cake was in short supply. on a return to the water Alan Newman had a water problem with his transmitter and could take no further part. Mick Cooper was ready fo a victory and thats just what happend in race 5 , with his A + rig he took full advantage on the downwind sections but found it difficult to tack upwind , he soon got the hang of a gybe tack and won a great race, Adrian had a rudder problem which would not get resolved and in the last two races Gordon Bennett showed his skill in the building breeze with two second places. Mick Chamberlain won the day.
No Salad was experienced in the making of round one .
Thanks to all the guys for helping out and giving us all some great racing on probably the worst day of the year so far.
