DF 95 Summer Series Round two 9th May 2021

Not what was forecast , Thats what we all said on arrival, but the breeze eventually filled in before the start to give 11 skippers some excellent racing straight up and down the East Bank. We welcomed a visitor Dave Geldart who is fairly new to radio sailing, but has some experience of Vane sailing, we hope he enjoyed his day and look forward to welcoming him back.

Most skippers started on A rigs and Pete 678 was quickly into his stride with two straight wins, if racing had stopped there Roger 448 would have been more than happy with two straight 3rds, that in fact went on to 4 straight 3rds very consistant racing, well done . After a not so good 1st race Jen 69 finally found her feet and was only twice out of the top 4 in 12 races giving Pete a very hard time even though there were some occasions where a dubious call caused confusion ( private joke) . Dave No Number at this stage was having some good races and had taken to radio like a duck to water, and we could tell he will be a force to be reckoned with in the very near future.

Mike 839 and Greg had a few close races with Greg showing a vast increase in form as had Roger Bowtle both showing well in some races, Billy Mac was just not at the races today and admitted it , Alan 438 , well it is always more difficult when you are OOD with other things are on your mind Alan 890 is still finding his feet after such a long layoff , and it was great to see Pete Webster back again after so much time away from the sport , Ed 31 had a problem and departed early. The wind strengthened as the morning wore on and several skippers went to B suit for two or three races before going back to A suit .

A great days racing the weather could not have been kinder , A very narrow victory on the day to Pete with Jen in close attendance, she will be studying the results carefully to see where she lost the points ( just look at the Discards )

Many thanks to Allan and Mick C and all the helpers who made the day happen and many thanks to all the skippers. Roger Bowtle needs a special mention because in race 7 he had his first win ever at Lincoln , well done Roger the only way is up .
