IOM Winter Series Round 2 4th November 2018

A fairly dull mornng was brightened by the sight of 18 skippers ready for action. This must be something of a record!!. However the wind was not helping, being from somewhere between South and East and putting a large proportion of the accessible lake in wind shadow. Two laps of a long course meant that only 7 races were completed.

Due to the large number of boats  there were occasions when a cluster arrived  at the finish line together putting the scorer under unusual pressure. In race 4 boat no 139 was not recorded, as was boat no 99 in race 5. These boats were awarded the average of their scores in the other races.

DF 95 Winter Series Round 1 28th October 2018

Chilly morning forecast with rain showers forecast, but that did not stop 10 skippers turning out for the first DF 95 race of the Winter series. The weather did not disappoint either if gave us what it promised.Geoff S only got his 95 on friday but here he was racing,Roger B first time out and a great start, Billy Mac was going well as was Gordon B, this I can tell is going to be a great fleet of one desighn racing with three other members about to take the plunge, The racing was difficult at time as the breeze came and went, and it was important to keep the boat moving and not stall, Keith H was the master today and from 5 races scored only 8 points, Billy Mac got two bullits at the end which he must be pleased with.

Our thanks to the race team and all the helpers which made for a very enjoyable mornings racing.

If you want to join this growing class of one design boats dont delay round two in around 4 weeks away

Congratulations to Keith and lets hope we all enjoyed the carrott cake at half time as a small celebration for the first DF 95 race of many.

IOM Winter Series Round 1 21st October 2018

On a morning far too warm for winter 12 skippers enjoyed some splendid sailing. The wind was fairly steady initially from the SW moving slowly towards  the W during the morning.

Thanks to Peter ably assisted by Jen for keeping the the racing moving at a steady pace and allowing 9 races to be completed.

IOM Summer Series Round 6 19th August 2018

The day dawned cloudy and grey with the threat of rain, the good news was there was a strong breeze which had skippers putting a the B suit in the pre race practice, but it seemed that 15 minutes before the start the wind shut down and A suits went on most boats. The fine misty rain that followed stopped after half an hour. Racing took place on the East bank with a great beat and run course, Floaty salad was slight but did affect you if you got it, but the lake has a lot less and is in much better shape than it was this time last year. A good fleet 13 skippers had some good exciting racing, Chris E got off to a good start in race one but Mick C bounced back in race two, Jen H was sailing really well with her new set of sails and was showing some good results, Chris G started slow maybe he stuck with B rig ? but showed fine form after the coffee break, Newcommer to the club Adrian was having difficulties in the gusty conditions but will only get better and we all welcome him to the club. At the end it was Mick C with 12 points from 8 races, who took the top step with his Sedici . Racing finished a tad early as the strong winds came back in race 8 with a lot of diving on the run and a unanamous decicision to call it a day was made.

Many thanks to the race team Chris and Rob and of course Roger for getting everything sorted nice and early.

A good shakedown for those going to the Nationals next weekend, and good luck to all Lincoln skippers who are going.
