DRAGON FORCE WINTER SERIES ROUND 4
Another fine day at Scotland farm, Very light non exsistant breeze gave the skippers the chance to chew the cudd and generally put the world to rights Nobody went home we just chatted, drunk tea, sipped coffee, and generally had a laugh. Around 11 am a decent force two came in from the south west and we sparang into action. The race team bless there hearts had been there since before 9 am and had got the board out and fetched the Dingy ( just in case ). As it was they set a nice long beat up the East bank followed by a run and then a long beat to the finish. 8 skippers on a very short start line behaved and all in all it was good sailing. We managed to get in 5 races packed up had another cupa, put the stuff away and went home.
Many thanks to Keith our OOD and assistant Alan Edgar, also Hopalong Ed who is recovering from his foot operation but just wants to get down to the lake, if he can scrounge a lift , Ed sat down and did the scoring for us Thanks guys. Results are below, and Kieth with an original set of sails took the day, Phil was a close second. Alan Newman came all the way from Bourne not sure how many miles that is !!!!!!! shame some more local skippers could make it.
IOM Winter Championship and DF 95 Winter Series Round 2 18th December 2016
Another fine day at the farm , 10 degrees, sunshine, a light south westerly, with a few pigs in blankets on the horizon. 5 of the clubs best human beings turned out for a bit of racing and mulled wine tasting, A gentle programe was set with plenty of time for rig adjustments and tuning after each glass of mulled wine and 6 races were completed. The assistant race office was there around 0845 and had plenty of time to get the dingy round ( not used ) get the board out and set up the start box, both classes started at the same time with a long long beat and a run followed by a long beat to the finish. Mick Cooper sailed well to win the I.O.M having match raced Graham around the course, results below, and Mick Chamberlain won the DF 95, results further below. Around 1130 we all retired to the clubhouse for mulled wine and sausage rolls, pigs , Mince pies, and some terrible jokes, we had a couple more races and then all mucked in to get the kit away and go home, funny but no shouting on the bank , not one call for starboard, It was so peacefull, a fitting end to the season , Good time to check the calendar to see when you are race office next year!!!!! Happy Xmas everybody

MDWCS ROUND TWO 11TH DECEMBER
A bright sunny day with a light south westerly greeted the 22 skippers at Lincoln; Bacon butties were consumed in fine style cooked with meticulous precision and loving care by Jan Cooper and Jill Burke our resident chefese’s in the galley. Briefing followed and a long course was set on the East Bank with a good long start line, as the fleet were good to go as a single fleet. Stephen Haywood started well with a fine win in his Cheinz, closely followed by John Tushingham in a borrowed V9 and then Chris Elliott with his Brit Pop. Race two and Darin Ballington clicked into top gear to take the win and the next four races leaving all in his wake, John Tushingham just hanging on to stay in contention. Lunch was called after race eight and 2 choices of soup and lots of French bread were served up by the club and super chef Jan, it helped to take the chill off the mid December morning.
Darin Ballington obviously had a little too much soup or the wrong flavour because races nine and ten his performance took a bit of a dip, Craig Raistrick, new to the sport and new to the Lincoln club came in with two bullets’ sailing his MX 14. Racing all through the fleet was fast and furious, and because the windward mark was a little further out than we would have wanted , if you were not round in the first five it could get a little congested and heated, and although there were a few shouts of “Protest” everybody was well behaved and completed the penalty turns if required “ almost “.
Looking through the fleet a number of skippers improved during the day, and the general feeling was a good days racing was had by all. Congratulations to our winner Darin, and runner up John , but in truth congratulations must go to all the skippers for the way they conducted themselves on the day, with 22 yachts on the start line it can’t have been easy.
Thanks to all the helpers at Lincoln, Jan and Jill in the galley especially , Ivan and Gordon who manned the finish line, Phil H who helped out a lot and Alan who brought the French bread along, If I have forgotten anybody sorry, We all know the OOD who kept up the pace rather like a sergeant Major, and enabled us to get in a good number of races.
RESULTS
Please note as this was also Lincoln Clubs i.o.m winter series round two, a seperate series of results will be posted later in the week .
A few pics of the day ,
