DRAGON FORCE & RG 65 OPEN WEEKEND

the racing

Saturday 20th June Scotland Farm welcomed 8 competitors, some from quire a long distance . Chaz Jodan was our PRO for the day and racing started promptly at 10 am from the East bank to a gentle south westerly breeze that filled a little as the day wore on. Quickly into his stride with his RG 65 Sliver was Mark Dicks with three straight wins closely followed by both Noel Donaldson and Phil Holiday with their Argons. Mick Chamberlain was fighting it out with John Goodyear to pick up the scraps , and Tom Wilgos was finding the long control area a handful but hanging in there, Jim and Bert sailing their Dragons having their own personal battle , but both managed to finish a fourth place in one of the races. Bert just getting the measure of Jim in the final standings, But the day went to Mark Dicks with 9 wins from 16 races, Thanks go to all competitors for the friendly manner in which racing took place, To Jackie who did the scoring and to Chaz for keeping law and order where necessary, results below .

Sunday the 21st June was Lincolns round 3 of the summer series and also an open day for visitors. !4 competitors cam from as far afield as Abersoch which is in Wales or as near as dam it  and Ilkley although I noticed that competitor did not have a hat !!. Wind was fresh from the South west and although a couple of races were sailed on the East bank the wind was veering all the time and play resumed on the South bank. Most of us sailed with B rig but some had no other options and had to sail with top suit. John T took a while to get into his stride 5 races to be exact but on race 6 his domination started winning ten races on the trot , a hard act to follow but when your preparation is as thorough as Johns you must expect good results. Chris Elliott must have thought it was going to be a good day with three wins and a second in the first four races, but the breeze built just a little too much for Top suit but all credit to him he hung in there to gain a third overall on the day. Tim Long sailed a super regatta after quite a long layoff to post some great results and get a second on the day, Mark Dicks just missing out to Chris E for the final podium place. Results are posted below but I would like to thank all competitors , and Chaz Jordan for running the event,  Jackie for doing a super job with the scoring despite HMS crashing half way through racing,

I.O.M SUMMER SERIES ROUND FOUR

A dull damp day greeted 18 competitors for round four of this exciting series , A couple of visitors from Rotherham came along , and racing started on the south bank to a north westerly breeze around 8/10 knots. Straight out of the blocks was Dave Burke with his new shaped fin and Bulb and judging by his performance throughout the day it is a vast improvement, as the fin was covered while the boat was on the bank nobody got a clear view, and all we know it came from Europe, and not the UK as first thought, any way enough of all that. Jen Hand had a bad first race but quickly got in her stride with some good results, Jen getting a second on the day was a worthy performance. Dave Thomas sailing his Cheinz also sailed very well and finally got the win in last race of the day, Sam Gill showed some spirited races with his MX14 and certainly enjoyed his racing. Unfortunately Bob Geary had to leave at lunch time,,  but looking at his result for the morning he would have been on the podium had he stayed on , his EVO 3 going very fast , It appeared that some people were a little under the weather and not sailing as well as they could and in fact we lost 4 boats shortly after lunch through fatigue I suppose you call it , in Fact Phil Harpham had said by race 12 that we had walked over 4 miles up and down the control are, After Lunch racing moved to the East Bank and became quite fluky , however as you all know cream comes to the surface and so it came to be , the clever guys and gals managing to tackle the conditions and take it in there stride, All in all a great days racing with Dave Burke taking 7 wins from 14 races means he moves up the leader board . results are posted below. can you work out which bank you sailed best on all I know is that I Mick C gbr46 sailed a little better on the East bank !!!!!!!!! The lake has its secrets.

I.O.M SUMMER SERIES ROUND 3, 31ST MAY 2015

Yet another fantastic day at Scotland farm 16 entries and 16 races sailed , Weather conditions started with a little rain , and top suit but by race three the breeze had picked up to a steady B suit breeze. The club welcomed four visitors from the Rotherham club, Sam, David, Peter and Malcolm. After a slow start from Dave Burke he quickly got into his rhythm with 4 straight wins closely followed by a Mick Hunt posting some good early results, Jen Hand again started slow but gradually found her form with some cracking results towards the end of the Day,as did Phil Harpham , who is now reaping the rewards of such hard work Building his own Goth,,   consistancy is of course what we all strive for and Malcom Yeomans from the Rotherahm club put some pretty close scores together after Lunch, to give him the bragging rights for the visitors. With 16 races , it is a pretty long day for most people and we certainly walked the banks today, it all became to much for Chaz who had a lay down midway through the afternoon and poor of Jo had a touch of hayfever , I think Rob was under orders not to be late home ,  I must admit I was flagging at the end, but the day turned out nice and sunny and very windy. I am sure everybody enjoyed them selves and had some great racing where ever they were in the fleet. Results are posted below.

DRAGONS & RG 65, ROUND 2 SUMMER SERIES 24 MAY 2015

Yet another fantastic days racing at Scotland Farm . 14 competitors came to the line on a warm overcast morning with a gentle westerly wind allowing top suit conditions. Chris Elliot won the day by a handsome margin showing the rest just how to set up and sail the Dragon. three RG 65’s  were on the water two were breaking wind ( wait for it ) designs sailed by Phil and son Jo Harpham and the other a home built design by Gordon Bennett who eventually opted for his White Dragon with a new design in sails see pic below, It was nice to see anew member sailing his Dragon and we welcome Geoff Burrell to the club, We also think it should be mandatory for new members to bring cake on there first day sailing !!!!!!, also nice to see was Rob Wilson sailing a Dragon purchased from that well known site called Ebay complete with classy sails and a bargain at   £ 90.00. Alan who is not yet a member (but soon will be) is making up a dragon at home not quite finished,   did the scoring for us. This is probably the best fleet of Dragons we have had at the club and as the weather gets warmer we should be seeing even more , after all there are 24 in the club and they make for jolly exciting sailing .  A few pics below and at the bottom the results. Every body went away happy with there sailing and look forward to the next Dragon race next month .
