Another great days racing at Scotland farm . It rained for about half an hour and then cleared up to give some exciting races , 12 were completed in the time, and top suit was used through out, a few tales of woe , Joe Harphams RG 65 was the first with a failed rudder servo and no replacement, next Mick C had a failed rudder servo, he was kindly given a spare by Dave Burke , missed three races , but was then back in the hunt only to see the new one fail just before the last race of the day. Alan Newman seemed to have ongoing problems which we must try to get to the bottom of. Jim Dinmore showed some flashes of excellence in getting a 2/3/4th , Gordon Bennett posted a couple of bullets and four 3rds, so things are improving with the white Dragon. Jen Hand showed some consistency in her racing and I am sure will be pleased with the overall performance of her boat, As you can see the RG 65 came in top of the pops but Dave Burke carries an early lead into the Dragon series by the skin of his teeth, some trim problems did not help the last few races. So there you have it , 10 competitors had a great time. The guys that did not show or could not show,  are missing a fab series that will only get better.

The seres results will be posted as two separate results ie RG 65 and Dragon Force in due course

The first round of the winter championship was not supported as well as it might have been. Seven skippers came to the line on a foggy morning,  and for those of you that decided to give it a miss because of a light winds forecast ,, you were all wrong, by a long way ,,,,, there was NO wind, we managed to get in five races and this was mainly due to the Coots passing wind as we drifted past them, frustrating it was,  but I am sure we all went home a little wiser on our sail settings and tactics, The sun came through eventually and tea break was very pleasant. Brit Pops did the business and well deserved. Results are below ,, and a well done to Bert Whitehead and also Geoff Burrell for winning one of the races for what was probably their first time .

12 competitors came to the line for the last in the summer I.O.M series round ten, over the summer 28 skippers have at some stage come to Scotland Farm to contest the series, The weather forecast delivered perfect blue sky’s and a steady south west wind of around 10/12 knots. Neil Coleman took on the duties of R,O. The line had a slight stb bias but once started it was a long first beat ,, Mick C 46 got well into his stride with his new V9 closely followed by Dave Thomas, also with a V9 and fresh from his Victory in the Clive Hand the previous week, Alan Newman with his AB4 got third spot in the opening race, The racing was good-natured and friendly. With Mick C taking the first 8 races out of 10 there was only going to be one winner in this one. There was some good individual sailing and on a number of occasions, new comer Geoff Burrell 51 showed lightning speed, so he is one to watch for the future. Alan Newman sailed very well and should take a lot from this performance. Results are below for your records .  Many thanks to Neil for the R O duties

Final series results will not be posted until Ivan returns from Australia at the end of November and prize giving will be at the AGM on the 5th December

Winter series will start on the 15th NOVEMBER And starts at 10am and last race is 1300 hrs

A fine day greeted the 26 competitors for the 2016 Clive Hand Memorial Trophy , not to much breeze maybe 5to 10 knots by the sky was clear and although a hint of a shower, we all stayed dry. Bacon Butties were the order of the day from 8am, along with Normans tea and coffee stand doing brisk business. Phil Harpham was Race Officer and did a superb job when you consider it was his first time, he was assisted by son Joe and two young ladies Jackie and Jill did the finishing line and scoring, so a massive thanks to all of them ,,  so on to the racing, there was always enough breeze to keep the boats moving and the beat was very tricky with some quite big shifts that lay in wait for the inexperienced and experienced alike, It wasn’t the only thing that caught skippers out,, but we will not go into that as it seemed to even itself out throughout the fleet, frustrating as it was . The two seeding races were won by Don Charlesworth and Nigel Brown ( Britpop and V9 ) Last years winner John Tushingham unfortunately had a multitude of problems in the first three/four  races with Radio and green stuff and so was always playing catchup, It was interesting that the top three only had one win each. also interesting was that the Lincoln club had 6 members in the top ten. At the end of the day Dave Thomas 41 sailing his new secondhand V9 for the first time was the most consistent to take the Trophy from Graham Allen and John Tushingham full results below , and pictures will be updated on this post as they come in. We also believe a large amount was raised for the R.N.L.I from competitors and visitors so thank you all so much.
