Fantastic morning of racing, probably one of the best of the season . Chris G has certainly got his B/P wound up, chased hard by Peter C,  and the TNT of Mick C . many thanks to the OOD’s and all the helpers for making the event run smoothly , also many thanks to Roger B for staying on and fixing one of the mowers, which will be needed very soon. The lake is in first class condition as we approach  the last races of the summer series.

6 Skippers in the DF 95 fleet had some great hard fought racing in fantastic conditions , sun, breeze, and good humour.  Mick C took the podium with five wins from twelve races.

Sorry everybody just trying to catch up this is the results of the DF 65 round 7 race on the 26th August great result from Bill Mc who takes it on countback, it was a bad weather weekend so lets hope the next round has a better following

Great DF 65 Racing

A great day at the lake 6 I.O.M’s and 6 DF 95’s , The I.O.M racing was close with Chris G just claiming victory from Mick Cooper , I cannot speak more highly of both these skippers for the way they handle themselves in front of an audience, their skill and cool calm confidence is a factor any young kid coming in to the sport would look up to. Billy mac and Peter G tied on 20 points but Billy mac takes it on countback, as always we look to other points of view on the racing, and below are a few words from todays winning skipper himself.

Sunday the 5th dawned at LRYC warm, overcast and virtually no wind..!!!….but as is often the way at Scotland Farm, by the time the attending IOM skippers (6 this time) had prepared their racing machines and the officers of the day, Chaz and Mick had chosen a suitable and long 1 circuit course almost the full length of the east bank, the wind was picking up, well, a slight breeze would be more accurate for race one but as the morning progressed the wind strengthened a little for each of the 9 starts and some great racing was had. After three races the course was doubled as our officers decided the IOM skippers weren’t walking far enough……..!!!
Graham K no57 took the honours in the first race by quite some margin (nobody quite caught what he was saying but Chris G was heard muttering something under his breath about orange boats😂) but then Graham suffered for most of the rest of the morning with sailings equivalent of “vegetarianism” … more commonly known lakeside as the curse of the salad…!!! Mick Cooper no39 and Chris Graves no1….. battled it out in some real tooth and nail stuff with Chris G just taking the honours for the day with 5 wins against Micks 3 although chris acknowledges one win was purely down to confusion from half the fleet as to how many times we’d (that’s WE’D not WEED) had actually been around the course and Chris thanks Bill Mc for leading them all astray😎  it really was another fabulous morning with some great company as usual……the racing through the fleet was close with everybody at some point experiencing that “oh god, I’m in front, where do I go now” feeling……

Fantastic morning at the lake 6 DF 95’s showed up to race. wind light to around 8 knots at the finish, Ivan had to call it a day at tea break and Mick C winch let him down in the last race, Keith and Mick were neck and neck in every race and Keith won so many congratulations to him with his first outing with the DF 95, and home made sails, exceptional sailing. Also new to DF 95 racing was Alan Newman, doing a bit of a count up it looks as though we now have at least 10 DF 95’s at the club now, so after a long time building the fleet is finally expanding, and will be ready for it’s own day of racing come the winter series in October. A fantastic day sometimes frustrating but always good smiles on the skippers faces.

Another fantastic day at Scotland farm clear blue sky’s and a great South Westerly that varied in  puff from 5 knots to 11knots , Sailing was on the east bank side  and privided a great beat and run, there was a touch of weed ( floaty) in the first three races but one or two skippers managed to find it and take it out with there fins ,,, Job done , after that it was great sailing and nip and tuck throughout the fleet, Some great improvements in sailing skills were seen especially from Mick Cooper who managed to resist many temptations to tweak between races , maybe Jan was a calming influence, but it worked only three points adrift of a podium so well done. It was good to see Chaz back at it again and he sailed well, in race six led for two laps  the breeze was up to 12 knots at that time so suited the lintel fine but he  just lost it on the final beat to the finish. Ed Whitaker also had some good sailing cos in the first and last race he got a third, so just the middle bit to sharpen up on.
