I.O.M Summer series round 11, 5th Sept 2021
A warm sunny day with a light breeze greeted 8 skippers. Initially the wind was for a course on the east bank but it shifted before the start of racing to be across the corner of the lake, with a large wind shadow from the three trees.
The course was set for the south shore with 2 start lines needed as the wind continued to shift more easterly
Mike Williams retired before the first race with intermittent radio problems.
Chris Graves was sporting a new suit of moulded sails; he was leading the first race but went for the wrong finish line only finished third; a result which, in retrospect, cost him the series.
It was generally s tale of 2 fleets, Rob Wilson, Chris Graves and Dave Rigby in the vanguard, and Peter Cogill, Geoff Keighley and Greg Codling in the rear, with newcomer Peter Mellen.
Rob won from Chris and Dave, had Chris won the first race he would have won overall.
By general agreement, racing Finished for 1pm.
We were delighted to welcome back Mick Cooper on his crutches after his op

DF 95 Round 6 29th August 2021
Eight skippers turned up on Sunday August Bank Holiday, the day was cool and cloudy with variable, at times, light NNE winds.
The East bank was used and the course set with two beats, broad reach and a run home.
The first hour of sailing was hampered with floating weed which affected everyone at some stage.
Second and third sessions were a lot better with very little weed but CJ 489 kept his helper very busy managing to find what was left.
Some exciting racing was had with the results showing four different skippers winning. Mike Williams AOOD kept matters in hand reminding skippers when turns were needed.
We must give a big thank yo to MaryAnn Williams for sitting for 3 plus hours collating results and taking responsibility for the start and finish line. MW 489 was brought back three times for being over the line, naughty hubby, and he was not the only one, well played MaryAnn.
Racing today made my OOD easy with everyone playing their part in fair racing and with all the help that was needed.
Thank You Gordon B
Gordon won the day with 4 wins and second place Alan also with 4 wins , slight mistake on scoring as you can see Chaz on countback beat Peter and I forgot to press the sort button . Mick Ch

DF 65 summer series round 5 22nd August 2021
11 Skippers turned up on an overcast morning. The wind was light from the north, north west. In the absence of a race officer and assistance race officer it was all hands to the pump, but thanks must go to Dave Rigby and Keith Holmes who stood in as RO and ARO, and also thanks to everyone else who helped out. Starting on the East Bank nearest the road, racing got off bang on 10am. After only a few races we moved to the other bank where it was a simple beat up the lake, spreader and a leeward mark, with three beats taken in each race.
With the change of wind direction from the previous week, some of the salad made an appearance, so racing at times had an element of luck in it.
A good morning was had by all, including our visitor Simon Fairman who finished third. Usual suspects up front with Keith Holmes taking the win, closely followed by Dave Rigby and Mike Williams was the third club boat home. Well done to all.

I.O.M Summer Series round 10
A bright breezy south westerly greeted 11 skippers, and a few visitors who were not sailing to a fast and furious morning at Scotland farm, the breeze was top suit all morning but as the morning wore on it seemed to veer and get stronger.
Pete W 65 was fast out of the blocks taking the first bullett, with Mick C 46 and Chris E 74 taking second and third. race two saw Chris E 74 start his winning ways with the first of ten wins from 14 races and becoming virtually untouchable during the course of the morning.
Jen H 69 yet again had winch line problems but she is so fast at restring the winch now she only lost one race because of it, and it will undergo further investigation before the Nationals. Dave R 57 despite never getting a win was consistant enough to gain second overall, and Pete W 65 never really got going, and Chris G 11 despite some good races had to depart early, Keith Holmes 88 had rudder servo failure early on and called it a day in race 8 , Mick C had a prior engagement and departed the scene of the crime by noon.
The racing was very competetive, and at times overly so with a tad to much dare I say it shouting and whittling that will be addressed.
The OOD Mike W and his wife MaryAnn did a fantastic job and Jen said she had never seen the results so clear ready to be inputted into the computer , so very well done Mike .
Very well done to Chris E , 14 points from 14 races cant be too bad. Dave R a good result to put into the accumilative results
