SUNDAY 2ND FEBRUARY RACING

2ND FEB 2014

Do not miss this Sunday

Hi everybody, we have had quite a bit of rain recently but lets look on the bright side, the lake has got another two foot of water in it and it can’t rain forever. We have been very lucky so far this winter and last Sunday was an exception, The Bright side is coming this Sunday see below, Looks like sunshine to me from 9am till 3pm, it will be a tad chilly so put your long john’s on, It’s an I.O.M meeting 15 knots from the south-west so it might just be B suit.  We are all looking forward to the Summer and one or two members are taking steps to upgrade to better boats (I.O.M )It will make the racing more competitive I am sure of that. Also over the next few weeks I shall be trying to bring a new design to the club, not sure if it will come off, but I am trying, I will keep you all up to speed on any developments.

If you have not seen already the series results are being posted as they happen, with Martin narrowly in front with the I.O.M class , we need to try to get more R.M’s on the water in two weeks time. Please remember to Bring your Dragon Force on Sunday as we shall have at least three of last weeks regatta races to try to catch up.  Keep your eye out for January’s “Video of the Month”

See you all on Sunday

NEWS 27th January 2014

OK , there were five people at the lake on Sunday and thats five more than I thought would be there, The weather lived up to its promise with Driving rain strong winds and freezing cold , we had four Dragons at the lake and three sailed but one,,,,, well he just could not get going , Mick had a C suit Norman had a B suit and Ivan had a top suit , we didn’t do any proper races but we had a bit of fun, Mick went out in the dingy to round up the buoys that had been spread around by the strong winds of the previous week, the dingy was afloat and had pulled its concrete weight out of the ground , the lake has got about two foot more water in it than it had last week , and the jetty needs to be repositioned or else we will need wellies to get to it. We had a cup of tea and put the world to rights for an hour , My little dragon was fantastic with its tiny rig on, but in the end we all went home to the warm and dry. But hey next week it is round two for the I.O.M yachts , so let us try and beat our best total of boats on the water for this year , and have some fantastic racing, Try and get down a bit earlier than you are used to because we WILL start at 10 am, ready or not , It has also been suggested that when we have finished the I.O.M we do three Dragon races , to try and recover some of the lost race’s on Sunday, and then the following week race three more , If you would like to see this happen send me an email, and I will then let you all know before Friday.

In the meantime see you all next Sunday at Scotland Farm

I.O.M RACING AT SCOTLAND FARM

Wow what a fabulous day, pouring down with rain at home but when we arrived at the lake we were blessed with a nice top suit breeze and the sun peeking through.  Ten skippers on a January morning raced around a windward leeward course, 2 laps and there were some tired limbs walking up and down the bank. The results will be posted later but here are some pictures of the mornings event, Shortly after the I.O.M racing we had three Dragon Force races over a slightly shorter course ,             5 dragons out and we had even more close racing. I understand there are perhaps 11/or even 12 Dragons in the club and all who own them a going at breakneck speed to have them completed for the first Dragon Force races next Sunday the 26th January, There is a club Dragon  that Martin has Kindly built for the club and it is available for charter if you ask him nicely , Oh and put £ 2.50 into the club kitty,  so on to the pictures.

RACING TOMOROW

Just checked the weather and it looks great , bit chilly so thermals are a must, with steaming tea and coffee,

19 JanuaryIts an I.O.M day and the first of the winter series, steady breeze looks like top suit but I have been wrong before. It would be nice for a good turnout tomorrow so lets be having you ,  also a bit of news , We have finally dismantled the jetty at Hykeham and now just need a trailer to move it round to Scotland Farm, Farmer  Bob said we could put it on his hard standing, and we said he can use it if he wants to , some pictures below of the grafters and state of play.
