ROUND 10 DRAGON FORCE SUMMER SERIES 14TH SEPTEMBER
Probably the worst turnout we have had this year for all sorts of reasons , Holidays , Kit failure , Failure to read the calendar, etc etc , but we did have 6 Dragons out on a lovely day for sailing top suit and a good steady North easterly breeze. Two laps of a windward leeward course took the leaders about 17/18 minutes to complete the course. Martin was desperate to stamp his authority early on with Chaz and Bob fighting to hang in there, but as we all know consistency is the key and with Martin taking the the 10 races and ending with only 9 points, it shows what is needed to win a series. Looking at Bobs results it was disappointing to see he did not win a race, perhaps a relaxing week in New York will give him renewed vigour , Norman was not really feeling himself after scoffing a whole bar of chocolate, Jim is improving with every week and Gordon keeps plugging away and with a new winch fitted only hours before the event may well have been a little stressed , results below and a few pics below that

Results for 31st August Both R.M and Dragon force
Another fantastic day for round 7 of the R.M and round 9 of the Dragon Force , Starting with the R.M we only had four boats on the water due to a last minute electrical glitch with Ivan’s transmitter However Ivan very kindly stayed on to do the scoring which was a great help to everybody and we are very grateful . We also ran the I.O.M fleet with a 1 minute delay , which made life more difficult than normal so the scores you see below are for both fleets but only the R.M will go on the series so far sheet , The day was sunny and very warm with about 10/12 knots of breeze from the North West , a course was set using the south bank and three laps were required to complete the course with a short dog leg to the finish, Martin Lambert stamped his authority on the event winning the first three races in a row , his boat looked superb and is well cared for , In fact he lost only one race of the six , with Graham Keighley taking race 4 . A consistent set of results from Bob Geary gaining five second places , with Colin Marsden not having the best of days. We wait with anticipation for another R.M to join the fleet which will make 7 at the club if they all turn up for racing .
results below and you will see that Dave boy Gunson after a long absence from the club was what appeared to be the best of the I.O.M racers, One of the most improved sailors in recent weeks has been Mick Hunt GBR 131 sailing his new ish Lintel and only 2 points behind D.B.G , Alan Newman also had a great morning and in fact in two races pipped the R.Ms Jim Dinmore is getting better by the week and there were signs today that newcomer Bert Whitehead is staring to get the knack , Practice Practice , He also is pretty good with a spanner in hand as we have found out with our tractor mower, A large turnout can be expected next week for round 11 of the I.O.M series .
Round 9 of the Dragon Force summer series got under way shortly after lunch in perfect conditions over a shortened course , again Martin Lambert stole the show with 6 points from 8 races and again Mick Hunt showed some consistent form to take second place , Chaz (expletives ) Jordan taking third spot , from a Guest and hopefully future member called Chris, who put in a fine performance , Phil GBR 44 came with a hangover and it showed , Norman Fish did actually beat Jim Dinmore on count back but I could not get it to show it on the score sheet , Alan had a miserable day and Gordon’s boat filled with water and the winch packed up, We need a bit more effort from the Dragon fleet I think we have sixteen in the club so a bit more commitment is needed, Full results are below and I will put the series results up in the next couple of Days

I.O.M SUMMER SERIES ROUND 10
A breezy blustery day greeted 15 competitors at Scotland farm for round 10 of the I.O.M summer series, We welcomed a new member and a repeat visitor to the club on what was to be a good blow with B suits all round. The rain held off but we had a brief two-minute shower about mid morning and then the sun came out to stay . Proceedings were slightly delayed as the wind changed direction just prior to the start and a new course had to be set along the south bank and we eventually started at 10 15 am .Race one was won by Mick Chamberlain GBR46, but it was by no means easy on the windward leeward course with places changing on a regular basis. Martin Lambert having completed the sale of his Lintel and having to sail an old but perfectly formed Gadget GBR 14 was finding things a little more difficult , especially as this was Lintel weather , The other Lintel in the fleet Chaz Jordan’s GBR 99 had yet another early bath going home before the first race was completed. Graham Allen sailing his new Chienz was performing well as was Bob Geary s new EVO 3 GBR 58 , but none as well as Robert Wilson Fraktal GBR 97 designed by Graham Bantock who went on to dominate the next 4 races leaving all in his wake. The racing was exciting, with battles throughout the fleet taking place, making for some very fast and furious racing , The results are posted below , but I would just like to give my thanks to Martin for having a teach in on rigging and first beat strategy including starting as soon as racing had finished , there will be more of this in the future because we find that the level of sailing has improved this year , which is good for the individual and for the club.
The 5th place was taken by Martin Lambert on count back
