DF 95 Summer series Round three. 11th June 2023

A Nor Easter they said, they were right, but not the kinda Nor easter I have been used to. this one had very little breeze loads of Sunshine a bit of 78 year old birthday cake, (cheers Cooperman) , and a fantastic convivial atmosphere, 15 skippers showed up including one welcome visitor, I think his name was Martin, and my goodness has his racing improved since I last saw him. Still a few hotshots missing from the entry list, but hey the calendar is on the website. Peter C 110 and Colin H 301 got there bright and early and got the course sorted, great stuff , and the fickle breeze stayed roughly where it needed to be, we stated off with two and a half beats, but this took around 25 mins and so we reduced the course, Mick C 46 fresh from his Global exploits, took the first two bullets, from Mick Cooper 39 and Kevin E 02, fluky it was and the start line was your first obstacle , it was a little short and in this fluky wind you do not want to be called over early ( do you Greg C 64 !!!) however you needed to be right on the button and keep the boat moving should you wish to get to the weather mark in good shape, Race three Jen H 69 got it spot on and with Greg C 64 in hot pursuit, they were never caught, Sam P 159 taking up third spot, and he was to follow through with some very good results, throughout the morning.

Martyn A 877 took the next bullit, and Sam P 877 took races 5 and 6 pipping Mick C 46 on both occasions. There were some notable good performances and some skippers will take a lot of heart from seeing these results, I am doing this report in place of the OOD and I do hope you will not mind a little critique, ( your getting it anyway) I tuned a few boats before the start , so please try and picture this when you next set up, and try and get close to those settings, I noticed mainly on the beats , that skippers had got into great positions but then got a little excited and suddenly thought there boat would go really well head to wind !!!!!! hello it does not please do one tack of the other and when it light never sheet hard in, give the boat air to breath.

This morning was a great light airs day and I rewalise it can be frustrating , but stick at it and it can only get better.. Well done to the Micky boy for the win and it really was great to see some good performances throughout the fleet, many thanks to all who cleared away and packed up.

Great fleet out which could easily have been 18 to 20 boats ,
