I.O.M Winter series round eleven 13th March 2022
Another great day at Lincoln 15 skipper arrived with a fairly strong south easterly that veered slightly through the morning. Mick C 46 took the first bullet, on the full length course ok n the South Bank, all skippers had gone for B rig , which stayed with the fleet apart from one skipper who chanced his arm for three races then reverted back. Racing was as usual, fast and very competitive, Pete W 65 took race two and Adrian C 77 with a superb performance on the day took the 3rd Bullet, good performances were being seen Roger B 58 sailing his Brit Pop was having a private battle with Mick Cooper 39 and only three points in it at the end, I am positive everybody enjoyed their morning except perhaps Peter H 60 whose winch packed up, The racing was held in a terrific manner, and our thanks must go to Chris and Tim who set the course , and Roger B for getting all the gear out.
Chris E 74 yet again showed his class and won the day with his Brit Pop , with Tim H 44 sailing out of his skin to take 2nd place with the very quick V11 , third spot was Pete W 65 sailing his Venti .
Very well done Chris

DF 95 Winter series round 6. 6th March 2022
Another great day at Scotland farm 13 skippers contested some great racing with the DF 95 fleet. A steady breeze and all boats on A suit , racing was on the the East bank with the wind in the North East, it was a perfect beat and run, although some shady shifts were there to catch out the wary and unwary alike.
Mick C 46 was out of the blocks fast in race one, with Roger B 448 a close second , and Mike W 76 took the bullet in race two, with roger B 448 keeping his consistency by getting third spot. Jen H 69 and by her standards starting slow got the bullet in race three, The racing was very close throughout the fleet and it was great to see Gordon B 38 back in action, Mick c 53 was having some good results and will be pleased with his day , as will Alan N 438, We welcomed Colin Toll 431 as our visitor and we just need to help him with his set up and I am sure he will do well. Kevin E 02 started slow, but gradually got to grips with the rig, and will be a useful Radio sailor in the not too distant future.
At the end of the day, Mick C 46 had it all under control with ten points from 9 great races, Jen and Mike took the remaining places in a set of races with good manners, all round , in particular it was great to see skippers talking to each other, when close quarter combat was needed, The fleet at Lincoln is steadily improving, And everybody I am surer must have been pleased with the morning.
Very well done to the winner and all skippers and helpers.
Consistency, is what we all strive for and just sometimes it all works out.
This was the last DF race in the Winter series , The summer series will start in April , If your reading this and want some decent racing why not come and join us, you know it makes sense .

I.O.M Winter series round 10, 27th February 2022
Wow, I guess I always say that just lately, A fresh South Easterly greeted 17 skippers, a tad chilly to start, but with wall to wall sunshine and a brisk three full length beats, you soon warmed up, Pete W 65 fast and comfortable with A suit ( choice of most) he blitzed the first race with his Venti with Adrian C 77 in the Sedici 2nd , Mick Ch 46 taking 3rd spot. race two Chris E 74 got going and took the next two bullet’s, Racing was a little one sided in that it was a long starboard beat and a couple of short port tacks , it did improve as the morning wore on as the wind backed further into the East. Chris G , OOD for the morning kept racing going at a steady pace with most skippers taking a turn on observing start line duties, but still racing of course, the racing was fast and furious throughout the fleet and at the top end of A rig, words got a little more heated than was necessary at times, and we must all try and contain our emotions!!!! the wind picked up after race five and one or two changed down to B rig and this gave Rob W 97 his first deserved win Chris E 74 took the last race still sporting his A rig . The power of the Brit Pop and Chris’s experience shining through despite the strong challenge of the two Venti’s , who it would appear need to up there game a little .
Many thanks to OOD and helpers , a great day for racing at Lincoln, and with two rounds to go ” it could be all Over ” you will have to do the maths , thanks again to all the skippers who are supporting the club.

DF65 Winter series Round 4
Good turnout at Lincoln despite conditions, that put many off We also have two write ups from two top skippers who were competing so enjoy. results and a couple of piccys below
Seven brave skippers were greeted with rain and plenty of wind for round 4 of the DF 65 winter series.
Adrian C assisted by Roger B set a course up the East bank with a very long beat and a wide splitter gate at the end of the run. Most of the fleet opted for the B rig which would prove to be a handful at times with tacking quite tricky .
Dave Rigby 57 was fastest out of the blocks taking race one from Jen 69 and Pete 65. These three would have extremely close racing for the majority of the day. Pete quickly got into his stride taking the next two races from Dave with Jen staying in touch.
Mike Williams 76 found a great way up to beat in race three and hung on to take the win from Pete.
Race five saw Jen find the turbo button to taking the win from Dave before a welcome break was called. A few changed down to C rig during the break following an increase in wind strength. Placings were wide open at this stage with all to play for after coffee.
The wind freshened and unfortunately this was the start of Pete’s problems. His C Rig jib pivot was in the wrong place forcing a retirement. Jen carried on where she left of winning race 6 from Dave and Mike. The C rigs were now very competitive certainly downwind where the B rig boats were examining their rudders. Pete changed back to B rig joining the fun downwind. Jen and Dave traded wins with and Roger close behind. Pete got water in his electrics ending his day leaving Jem and Dave to fight it out for the win. Roger was now going very well and was in the mix in each race. Going into the last race all was even following Dave’s win in race 10 so all to play for in the final race.
Jen and Roger 74 had good starts and rounded the windward mark clear of Dave and Mike. A very tricky downwind leg left the positions unchanged and set up a very interesting last beat.
Roger headed to the middle to the lake closely followed by Jen. Dave stayed closed to the bank and closed on Jen. As the wind increased Jen struggled to tack and opted to Jibe round. Dave found a lull and duly tacked giving him a slight advantage over Jen and Roger. The last half of the beat was very tense with Dave keeping Jen covered to take the win and Roger coming a well-deserved third.
Considering how strong the wind was racing was very close and of a great standard.
Overall a great days racing sailed in a brilliant sporting manner. It’s a real shame we lost Pete for the last two races, well done to everyone. From Dave Rigby 57 the winner on the day
The forecast suggested a C rig day, however on arrival Roger 74 was sporting the C but a B seemed to be to be the more likely rig as the gusts were Infrequent and you either had the luck or not to be caught downwind. The B rigs led the first few races with Jen, Dave and Pete swopping places as getting tacks in at times was a challenge and you could be parked for some time if you got it wrong. We were racing the East Bank with a long beat and run followed by a half beat to the finish, races took about 14 to 15 minutes with Adrian keeping the races running. After coffee Pete W tried the C rig, first time on and incorrectly rigged, outcome , DNF. Jen was putting some bullets together with Dave coming in close with some very close finishing, Pete W went back to a B rig however water had got in into the boat somehow and after a good pint of emptying the receiver had failed, waterlogged end of racing for him. Jen and Dave shared the last few race bullets with Dave securing the overall. A challenging day with a strong breeze a constant fine drizzle but racing competitive as normal. Thanks to Adrian and Roger for sorting the racing. The car horn finishing gun was a nice touch, whether that was just to keep Adrian dry!!. From Pete Walters 65
Very very well done to Roger Bowtle and Adrian Cripps on an excellent job dealing with OOD duties especially finishing sat in car and using car horn as finishing whistle !!!!! and windscreen wipers keeping screen clear, brilliant , Also interesting was Dave and Jen both had 4 win apiece, racing is very competitive, and everybody is upping their game .
