DF 65 Winter series round 3, 30th January 2022
Wow after the gales of Saturday In which some mad nutter sailed there boats at the farm with C rigs !!!! we had a very blissful start, in fact so blissful there was only a dogs breath for the first race, Which was won by Mick C 46 , Pete got the second spot, And Dave Rigby romped home with third, For race two and beyond we all moved to the East bank where, correct me if I am wrong the wind really filled in and we got a whole knot of wind, that is of course after we had had our early coffee break, It really was a good fleet out 14 skippers and there was a lot of helpful tuning on the bank , to the less experienced skippers, Mike W 76 winch packed up I hear on race 5 , just when we were getting 3/4 knots ,, Roger B 74 was having a much better day, and was enjoying himself. Pete W 65 was playing a very consistent game with three second places before his bullet in race 4 , but then Mick C 46 bounced back as the breeze fill in a bit with two bullets in races 5 and 6 giving him three race wins in all ( he told me to tell you that ) Pete W 65 and Keith managed two each , with Mike W 76 claiming the other win. The breeze had started to fill in and there was some great races. There was an incident in one of the races, between two skippers, and although the results will stand the issue I hope will be sorted over the next couple of weeks so we all know what may be acceptable for club racing, So no need to worry your little heads at this time. .
So Many thanks to the Race team and Roger B for organising the event so well in trying conditions , and of course well done to the green machine of Pete Walters, who took the win on the day that was held in the very best spirit that you can all be proud of , Keep your eye open for the accumulative results coming soon .

I.O.M Winter series round 8 23rd January 2022
16 skippers out for round 8 , A very light affaire from the get go , with just a couple of knots from the South South West enabling Pete W to lay a pretty good course on the East bank. Off to a cracking start was Keith H 88 who took the win with Dave Rigby 57 a distant second and Chris E 74 in third spot, the second race saw Graham K 157 get an exceptional start that he kept out front for the whole race, Chris E 74 took second with Gravesy 11 in third spot, just about the best he could muster in this very competitive fleet. Still a few skippers missing on this very light breeze day, Races 4 the breeze increased maybe a couple of knots and saw Pete W 65 take his first win with Jen H 69 second and Chris E 74 taking third spot to keep his scores fairly low. Kevin Hope our visitor for the day needed a few bits sorting before he joined the racing in race 4 but for only the second time radio racing he did well with the Erica , that clearly need a bit of sorting that I am sure the club members can help with, but his results were promising.
Pete W 65 then went through a grey period with the 4th places before nailing in in the final race. Mick C 46 can be quite please with his new Venti . but let me tell you it was all about the start , if you failed at the start you just failed to get through, The fleet at Lincoln is getting very competitive, but at the same time is pretty calm in the bank side and the racing was very good despite the lack of breeze.
Very well done to Pete W 65 for his win , and also the top three on the podium . Thanks to all helpers and the OOD’s to enable us to have some great racing.

DF 95 Winter series round 4 16th January 2022
Wow,,, After all the ice reported throughout the midlands Lincoln escaped and had some very good racing at Scotland farm. 13 skippers showed up including two visitors David Geldard and Colin Toll, I hope they enjoyed the racing.
The wind was light from the South West and was fairly constant enabling the course to be set on the East bank, Mike and Maryann were the OOD’s and worked well together as a team, ( Husband and Wife ) with I noticed Maryann tearing around in the dingy to rescue a boat very well done. First race was won by Mick C 46 with the other Mick C 53 in close attendance and David G in third, it was three full beats ,so a long course, Mike W 76 took the next two bullets and the battle was on, with little contests going on throughout the fleet. Race four could have seen at least a second place for David G but with two metre’s to the finish line ran into a big clump of weed and came to a complete standstill and needed rescuing allowing Mick C 46 to take the win and Pete Cogill to take second spot, Mick C 53 managed to take third spot, which helped in his overall position, and kept him in the game,
Jen Hand was not having the best of days just not finding the speed she usually has. Chris G 489 was enjoying his racing with the boat he brought from Chaz Jordan, and came good at the end with a couple of seconds places against the unstoppable Mick C 46 . Chris G 489 despite trying so hard to use a new rule in the rule book ,to try and gain an unfair advantage,( still looking for the rule ) on no less than two occasions whilst behind,,, he warned Mick C 46 that his shoe laces were undone, causing him to look down and loose concentration ,, and then being told it was the other boot,,,,, this behaviour needs to stop HA HA , Mick managed to take the last three Bullets and take the honours for the day, which was raced in an unbelievable great spirit. Many thanks to all who made a great day of racing and many thanks to the OOD and helpers .
Very well done Mick C 46 for the win , keep your eye on the calendar for the next round .
