I.O.M SUMMER SERIES ROUND SIX

A fantastic summers morning greeted 13 skipper for round six, a good steady breeze from just south of west had the fleet sailing up and down the East bank. But just before I get ahead of myself , some members of the club have done an awfull lot for the club so the rest of us can enjoy our sailing , Chaz Jordan is one such guy who put all the money up to build a new jetty , and very nice it is too , Many thanks to Chaz , and the opening ceremonie was held just before the start of racing , huge amounts of cake was eaten by most people at tea break , and many thanks to all who contributed and helped us get a bit fatter .  ok on with the racing.  There should be four pictures opening of ” JORDANS LANDING”

Top suit was used during the mornings racing, and although a little frustrating at times due to a bit of the old green stuff,  racing was generally good and competetive and dare I say it a little heated at times, Breeze was stronger than forecast and probably around 10 to 12 knots  . Daren started well with a bullitt and Keith a second , the beats were a little one sided but we all coped well, eleven races sailed in two and a half hours,  thanks to Keith Holmes and Chaz our OOD for the morning keeping things going. Mick C came out on top claiming the Martini Fin keeps the weed away.  Two rounds to go , but thanks to everybody who found the time to turn up and race , a great morning .

IOM Summer Championship and DF 95 Summer Series Round 6 13th August 2017

Guys what a great day , we sailed on the South Bank which had its problems , but nothing like last year , so much improved , the sun shone and the breeze was around 8/10 knots from the North West , a long course that had the advantage of having a large jetty which was used frequently for pit stops to shed a bit of gree stuff if you had to. Frustrating it was , but not as frustrating as Bob G who dropped his tranny in the lake before the first race. well done to Keith H for the win, and well done to the race team and helpers.

Only three DF 95,s turned out for round six and Gordon took the win and Alan E takes second on countback , good breeze and a great day for sailing if a little frustrating with the green stuff which we hope will soon be a thing of the past

well done and many thanks to Ivan and Bob G for helping with the scoring and keeping everybody in order in both fleets

Ivan our happy scorer for the day .

DF 65 Summer Series round Five

A delightful summer morning , sunshine, gentle breeze, what more could one ask for, someone shouted ” Lake Mower” ok it was a little frustrating but we all got a little bit of the green stuff , but it look like we may be getting the better of it , nuff said for now . 9 skippers arrived one much earlier who was found up the farm fixing the ride on for us , thanks Roger B , It was a long course on the East bank full length in fact and two laps meant we had great racing but did slightly less races than normal, Keith started well with a bullitt but on race two Phil was snapping at his heels and in fact won race two and three and got a 4th in race four which is when cyba techo took hold and the sound fron Phil’s Tranny was saying ” Transmitter batteries low” over and over again , I noticed people moving away from Phil at an alarming rate, and that sad to say was his last race as he forgot to charge his spare . Gordon won race four, and then it was normal service with Keith taking the last three races . New boy Peter webster with his first ever racing experience got better as the morning progressed and will be pleased with his boat handling, Bob Geary fresh from a two week holiday also had some consistant results. at the end of the day the cream rose to the top and Keith took the honours so well done to him, many thanks to Phil and all his helpers for the OOD duties a plaesant morning was had by all with no balling and shouting, just how it should be , finally I would just like to mention , some of you may have noticed on the South bank, a prospective new member Chris and his wife Jane were practicing with a DF 95 to get the hang of radio sailing , we hope to see more of them both and can assure them once the knack is achieved it all becomes easy and we all welcome you at any time .

Bob Geary on the fine tune IE new batteries

Look out for round six

IOM Summer Series Round 5 30th July 2017

Gota say one of the best summers mornings at Scotlnd farm,  11 skippers showed up for round five of the summer series. After a long lay off it looked like business as usual for Dave Burke GBR 30 with a bullitt in the first race,  Jen hand with another BP following up with a fine second, There was a little green stuff floating around after quite a big cut with new machinery on Friday and that was to have an effect on most skippers during racing , one would hope that after ten races it evened itself out. The breeze was at times 90% of top suit from the Souht West comng straight down the lake and sailing was all on the East bank giving a great beat and run. The sun shone and the wind blew, Banter on lakeside was great, and not a bad word said about the green stuff which was far better than has been Mick C GBR 46 was doing well in the conditions and mast have had a very good trim on or ewas extremly lucky , you decide . Apart from the first race he was not out of the top three till coffee break. After coffee we had five more races making ten in all for the morning, and as I said one of the best mornings racing for a long time, for those who missed it, nothing to say, their loss , this is what racing is all about, and a third of the membership enjoyed every minute. Ivan was sailing his nearly new 3 Dogs and will only get better, Peter Cogill had some good races with the V9 and Mick Cooper had a frustrating morning having improved so much in the past few months and will feel he should have done a little better. Again I say a great mornings racing Congrats to Mick C in guiding the Red Dragon ( V9) to victory in quite a hot fleet.

Many thanks to Mick Cooper and Dave Burke our race officials who did a sterling job.
