Martin Lambert & Absent friends Memorial trophy, Inc round 12 I.O.M Winter series 2021,22
A very light North Easterly greeted thirteen skippers, for this Memorial event, and Pete Walters who took the duty on in the absence of someone official, decided that we start racing on the East bank, Peter Helen turned up to do the scoring, and it all worked out very well.
Mick C 46 took the first bullet, with Rob W 97 a close 2nd and the pink Lady Jen H 69 taking 3rd spot, we had two or three races on the East bank before moving to the South bank as the wind had veered but quite a few degrees. race three had Pete W 65 in first , which turned out the first of 7 bullets during the day, His Venti design showing lots a pace and once free of the start line was going to be hard to catch.
The racing was extremely close and very competitive, in the light and fluky wind, but just after coffee break we had another couple of knots wind which helped keep you going, Jen H 69 was sailing very well and at times , like in race’s 6 & 7 with back to back wins was coasting. Last years winner Steve Haywood 57 was giving it everything he had to try and get on terms , but today the Venti’s came out on top, It was fantastic racing in a great spirit, and in warm sunshine .
We were pleased that Grainne Lambert was on hand to present the prizes and we have a new name on the trophy 7 different names in 7 yeas so not bad going , There was also a Silver salvor prize donated by Chaz Jordon, and three raffle prizes awarded to those who stayed the distance .
Many congratulations to the winner Pete W 65 on his win , and also to everybody who helped and Peter Helen who did the scoring and start line for us .

DF 65 Winter series round five 20 March 2022
Great days racing from the south bank into an easterly wind which varied slightly throughout, Dave Rigby did good job of moving a couple of bouys and sorting a good course. 10 skippers (some absentees attending a Midland event) Dave put his marker down winning 3 early races but then Jen found form and ending the 10 race day with 5 wins! – untouchable! results and a few piccy below thanks to Peter Helen and Alan Edgar.
Watch out for the accumulative, to see who has won the Winter series !!!!!!

I.O.M Winter series round eleven 13th March 2022
Another great day at Lincoln 15 skipper arrived with a fairly strong south easterly that veered slightly through the morning. Mick C 46 took the first bullet, on the full length course ok n the South Bank, all skippers had gone for B rig , which stayed with the fleet apart from one skipper who chanced his arm for three races then reverted back. Racing was as usual, fast and very competitive, Pete W 65 took race two and Adrian C 77 with a superb performance on the day took the 3rd Bullet, good performances were being seen Roger B 58 sailing his Brit Pop was having a private battle with Mick Cooper 39 and only three points in it at the end, I am positive everybody enjoyed their morning except perhaps Peter H 60 whose winch packed up, The racing was held in a terrific manner, and our thanks must go to Chris and Tim who set the course , and Roger B for getting all the gear out.
Chris E 74 yet again showed his class and won the day with his Brit Pop , with Tim H 44 sailing out of his skin to take 2nd place with the very quick V11 , third spot was Pete W 65 sailing his Venti .
Very well done Chris

DF 95 Winter series round 6. 6th March 2022
Another great day at Scotland farm 13 skippers contested some great racing with the DF 95 fleet. A steady breeze and all boats on A suit , racing was on the the East bank with the wind in the North East, it was a perfect beat and run, although some shady shifts were there to catch out the wary and unwary alike.
Mick C 46 was out of the blocks fast in race one, with Roger B 448 a close second , and Mike W 76 took the bullet in race two, with roger B 448 keeping his consistency by getting third spot. Jen H 69 and by her standards starting slow got the bullet in race three, The racing was very close throughout the fleet and it was great to see Gordon B 38 back in action, Mick c 53 was having some good results and will be pleased with his day , as will Alan N 438, We welcomed Colin Toll 431 as our visitor and we just need to help him with his set up and I am sure he will do well. Kevin E 02 started slow, but gradually got to grips with the rig, and will be a useful Radio sailor in the not too distant future.
At the end of the day, Mick C 46 had it all under control with ten points from 9 great races, Jen and Mike took the remaining places in a set of races with good manners, all round , in particular it was great to see skippers talking to each other, when close quarter combat was needed, The fleet at Lincoln is steadily improving, And everybody I am surer must have been pleased with the morning.
Very well done to the winner and all skippers and helpers.
Consistency, is what we all strive for and just sometimes it all works out.
This was the last DF race in the Winter series , The summer series will start in April , If your reading this and want some decent racing why not come and join us, you know it makes sense .
