Fun Racing 1st January 2023

7 skippers showed up for a bit of fun racing with the DF 95’s at Lincoln plus a couple to help and watch, It was an A rig day to be fair but by noon it was more like a B rig and so we called it a day with 7 races and then had a raffle with most going home with something , including sausage rolls and mince pies !!!!

1st Jen Hand 2nd Kevin Everson 3rd Mike Williams 4th Colin Helliwell, 5th Greg Codling 6th Pete Webster 7th Jeff Fisher our newest member and the first time out with his own boat , so very well done , and well done everybody .

Merry Xmas Everyone, from Lincoln

From all the club members and hangers on at Lincoln Radio sailing club, we would like to wish you all a very happy Xmas wherever you are and whatever you are doing. 2023 could well be your year, so think positive and don’t look back.

If you love sailboat racing, and hot competition in dingy’s, big boats, windsurfer’s, etc , but find your self with a bit of a bad back , knee joint not as good as it used to be, tummy muscles ” screaming” when your hiked out, don’t worry , the answer is here right before your eyes.

Come take a look at radio racing, I will guarantee you will not be disappointed, The adrenaline rush on the start line will return, no need to learn new rules, just concentrate on getting to that weather mark , certainly in the top three , and with two thirds of the fleet chasing you , the pressure is now on .

Lincolns Racing calendar starts again on the 8th January, 10 am sharp till 1pm with the I.O.M series round 5 , These boats are not toys. and getting the correct set up to be in the top three is all important.

If your free for an hour pop along and take a look, most of us are the friendly type , may even let you have a go, !!!

DF 95 Winter series round three 11th December 2022

Not a great deal to report on for todays racing , The weather won . But in truth 7 skippers showed up with great intentions to have some races, OOD’s Mick and Pete mainly Pete got a course sorted on the South bank , put some rock salt on the middle jettyand with about 2 knots of breeze we were off, Yes it was painful, and there was silence in the control area, 3 quite long beats later and it was Mick Cooper who had the edge on all of us to take the bullet, Rewind for race two and Mick Cooper took the win once again by far superior sailing skills. We then had a 5 minute break with one or two opting for a trip to Gregs for a bacon buttie and a cuppa but were stopped in there tracks by an offer from Pete 678 of a shortened course, Boats to the water and by this time the whiff of a breeze disappeared completely, with boats not even getting near the start line, the call went up for the bacon buttie option to be reinstated and so for the next half hour skippers struggled to get there boats to a jetty,

So you cant take it away from Mick C 53, top of the pile, well done Mick , but thanks to all skippers who braved the forecast to come out to play a great effort, This has to be a first at Scotland farm that we have had to terminate racing due to lack of wind.

I must say we also had a couple of visitors Steve and Jeff who have both been before, it was not inspiring racing but I believe we shall see both guys sailing DF 95’s at our wonderful club in the very near future.

I.O.M Winter series Round 4 4th December 2022

Pretty cold day forecast could have put a few off but it was not to bad, Lack of breeze was slightly more concerning. Darin and Adrian our OOD’s were there early and got course set out, the breeze was very light from the North East , so it was a good beat and run straight up the East bank, 14 skippers started so not a bad turnout, and every body was wrapped up warm, Jen started with a bit of a disaster when we found the portaloo had been left in a mess by the people who are supposed to clean it, so she was not a happy bunny, But after the first race a smile returned as she took the well deserved Bullet from Daren B 98. As you can see from the results it was pretty tight at the top, Mike W 76 had to retire after the first race with electrical problems, so we were down to thirteen as Mike then kindly did the scoring . Pete W then got into his stride with two straight wins, Mick C 46 seemed to be struggling with a new rig, but hey no excuses, It seemed for once that Darin was not having it all his own way , but hey lookout if he wasn’t winning he was building up a lot of 2nd place’s, One of the skippers tried to get a decent setup on Stuarts J 66 Lintell but hopefully he wont be to despondent today was not Lintel weather by a long chalk, Colin H 54 with his first real racing with the squiggle knows what he has to do to get more speed and I am sure it will be quicker in 2023 , Mick Cooper 39 has jumped ahead in confidence, and can be seen jostling with the leaders, and in one race Pipped Darin to the line, by some very good covering.

Dave R 57 has things on his mind at the mo but don’t worry he will be putting in some good performances in 2023 , and Mick C 46 only got him on countback by winning race 6 . Kevin’s Pikanto is getting quicker. All in all a decent day’s racing, With Darin getting the win, but definite highlight of the day was Jen H 69 winning three races ( more than anyone ) and taking second spot on Countback from Pete W 65, It felt that we are getting closer to Darin B 98 , but his consistency nailed it yet again. Round 5 is next year and I am sure we will all be ready. Well done all skippers and especially to Darin for his win.

Thank to all for helping put the gear away .
