IOM Summer Series Race 11 7 September 2014

Another great attendance for a great days racing. The weather forecasters got it wrong again and we did have some wind – basically from the north west but rather variable. At least we did not have far to walk to the start line. Racing was very close, particularly in the middle order. I hope the other 14 IOMs and 7 Dragons enjoyed it as much as I did.

DF/RG Summer series Race 8 on 10 August 2014

Seven hardy souls braved the inclement weather for a shortened event. The wind was generally from the North East despite the forecast but was very variable both in strength and direction but at no time posed a problem even to the Dragons with the large sails. The rain was also variable but when it was heavy it was very heavy. At the end of race 6 the wind was at its lightest and the rain at its heaviest so racing was abandoned.

RM Summer Series Race 6 – 27 July 2014

A variable wind made the choice of the windward mark questionable at times but the strength made for some good sailing. The closest racing I can remember sailing as the results indicate. An excellent morning all round.

Results from RM Summer Series Race 5 on 13 July 2014

Only 4 RMs turned out on what proved to be a testing day. It started light and variable but dry and warm. By race 4 we had heavy squalls with driving rain. Most of the skippers were caught out as proved by the fact that only half the fleet finished. Racing ended in showery conditions with a fresh breeze. The fleet was augmented by 6 IOMs and 5 Dragons had some fun to finish off.
