DF Summer series round 5 and RG Summer series Round 1

Sailed on 2nd August, which turned out to be a typical Dragon day – light flukey winds from the S to SE. The wind off the SE bank produced some turbulence on the water and made for some interesting or frustrating racing depending on your point of view. It was a day when the game of “spot the windshift ” made all the difference.

Since there were 4 RG boats sailing the results have been divided and an RG Summer series created, this being round 1

IOM Summer Championship Round 4 26th July 2015

A meagre 6 entries for todays event. The wind was South to south east increasing slowly to around 10 mph by mid-day. Racing was along the south bank with sporadic problems with weed which affected all skippers randomly providing mixed results. However the overall weed situation appears much improved reflecting the hard work of the work parties in recent weeks.

RESULTS FOR IOM SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3

The day started dull and showery with 6 willing skippers with various tools raking weed. Well done to them. By the start of sailing the rain had cleared leaving a nice fresh SSW wind for a course up the East bank. After a few races the strengthening wind became uncontrollable in A suit causing a few skippers to change down. A creditable 10 races were completed due in part to Phil and his new remote start button which worked well but suffered from a range problem. Plans are already in hand for the Mk 2 !

IOM SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP 2015 ROUND 2

A bright dry day greeted 11 skippers and there was WIND. A fairly steady breeze from the North west, as forecast, provided  a windward leeward course along the south bank without the need to move any marks. The breeze was strong enough for most skippers to opt for B rig initially but soon  changed to A rig and were tested by the gusts. 4 skippers shared line honours at some point but Mick Hunt was by far the most consistent.
