DF 65 Winter Series Round 5 13th January 2019

A great morning’s sailing  marred by a DF 65 sinking during practice ,26 with Peter Webster at the helm and a full crew of three went down with out trace, close to number nine bouy the survivors were given hot coffe and a donut and sent home .  Breeze was from the north west and strong enough for B suit which we carried for all 7 races, racing was from the South bank and a fair old beat and run, Most consistant were Phil and Mick andf it involved a count back as did second and third places, at this time not sure who the winner was and we may need to take advice.

Billy Mac started on C rig ?????? but then came to his senses and put B on and did very well winning race 6 . all in all a good blow out for the skippers with some close racing, Many thanks to all the helpers and Phil for the OOD duties, And if he has won very well done.

next round we would hope to get a few more skippers out so keep your eye on the calendar.

IOM Winter Series Round 6 6th January 2019

Fantastic morning at the lake with only one missing ingredient ” Wind”,   12 skippers hung around for a 30 minute postponement and then we had a slow start it probably took 10 minutes for boats to get to the start line ,, anyway it was a beat into a south westerly  !/?’>)&$, up the East bank and one lap was plenty, Jen Hand started well and took the win in the first race,  Bob Geary was with his new Sedici and did rather well for a first time out, and it was only one point that seperated Chris Graves From Bob at the end. The beat was fluky and if you got on the wrong side it was dificult to recover. Peter Cogill had a much better day recording a win in race 4 . Adrian lost his rudder servo after three promising races, but dont worry he will be on it for the next round.  All in all a very satisfying mornings racing if not frustrating for some, Well done to Chris E for his win, and well done all skippers for a enjoyable morning lake side , Thanks Graham and Mick for getting six races in, in what is probably the lightest winds seen at the farm for a very long time .

Just after the start “where do you ewant to be “

DF 65 Winter Series Round 4 30th December 2018

Back to normal with the weather nice sunny day saw 9 skippers shaking off a few Xmas cobwebs could have been 10 but Mick chamberlain is still suffering with knee problems. Dave Burke and peter Webster set a great course up and down the East bank in a nice south westerlie that had all boats sporting A + rigs Well almost!!! Dave got off to a great start and was not going to be beaten to the finish line until the 6th race, Phil sailed consistantly but just could not catch speedy Dave who showed a lot of boat speed. The tuning on the DF 65’s is quite precise and you need to get it spot on and check it before going on the water for each race, having said all that the racing was close and great to watch.

Well done to Dave and of course many thanks to all the guys who showed up.  results below
