I.O.M Summer Series round Three 15th May 2022
Another great morning at Lincoln, 15 skippers of all ages including two visitors from Manor Park, Tracy B 49 and Colin W 03 turned out on a beautiful May morning, wall to wall sunshine and a nice 5 to 10 knot breeze from the South East, OOD Dave R 57 had no hesitation in laying the course on the South bank with three great beats. The new sturdy Windex poles from Mick C 39 made laying the line correctly far easier and all starts got away clean.
Mick C 46 stormed away in the first race with his Venti and was never troubled, Darin B 98 with his Brit Pop took second and Pete W 65 took third Spot. A young chap called Tony did the finish line for us with Allan taking over from race 6. so many thanks to them.
Pete W 65 took the second race from local hero Tim H 44 and Darin B pulling third , there was to be a battle all morning between Darin B 98 and Pete W 65 with Dave R 57 getting some good results to stay in touch and it could have been a lot closer had Dave just had to concentrate on his racing without being OOD on the day. There were some great battles up and down the fleet and the two visitors were at the end tied on points with Tracy B 49 taking it on countback with her fabulous 2nd place in heat 5 .
Interesting to see three different designs in the top three, and I can see this battle going on to the very end of the series, This series at Lincoln is very well supported by the club skipper and today we were probably at least 4 skippers down and two at least who would have a shout in the top 5 positions, so long may that continue, The behaviour on the bank was exemplary, and it was a pleasure to be a part of it.
Many congratulations to Darin B for taking the top step and the other two guys on the podium .
Also many thanks to the OOD and the many helpers .
If you find yourself reading this post, and maybe are a dingy sailor, but are just a bit curios about radio sailing, maybe your knees are taking a bit of a hit , Pop along to Lincoln any Sunday morning and somebody will be sure to let you have a go. You never know it may just change your life.

DF 95 Summer series, Round Two, 8th MAY 2022
Great weather for round two with 14 skippers starting out, battery problems took Peter H 60 out after 3 races, disappointing, Peter we can help just ask. A suits all round in the light South Easterly and Jen as OOD got plenty of help with the buoys and stuff were sorted as she set the stage for some great racing. Keith H 39 was once again off the mark with the first bullet, with Mick C 46, 2nd and Greg C 64 sailing out of his skin getting a well deserved 3 Place. The light South Easterly was very fluky and the beat was not easy, catching out the unwary, only too often.
Mick C 46 won the second race with Keith H 39 taking second spot , Kevin E 02 taking 3rd . In race three Jen H 69 took the winners spot before coffee, with Mike W 76 taking 3rd spot. Racing was close up and down the the fleet, we welcomed Colin T 431 in probably his first race at the club, well done Colin.
A disappointing return from the I.O.M Nationals in Scotland for Pete W 678 where he gained a 13th spot, he just did not seem to get going, but don’t panic there he will bounce back pretty quick,, Mick Coopers 53 steady improvement, moves on and he will be happy with his win in race 6, and a 2nd in race 7. The racing at the club has been very competitive, this year and that is fantastic for the club, but with that comes a keen ness to win and a little excitement , I have to say I saw at first hand a port and starboard and a boats sail touch the mark ( no turns were done ) I was also in the vicinity of another incident that started between 3 boats and escalated to 4 boats , This is what I saw ,, two boats were on starboard tack with 5 seconds to go 2 metres from the mark , one other boat was coming in to the mark at speed on port tack , clearly with no rights (port / Starboard ) the first starboard boat got through but in the same instant the Port tacker clipped the second boat and somehow spun him around onto Port tack That’s is all I saw , in that instant the first starboard tacker immediately tacked onto Port and was clear away, an incident then occurred, that may have caused some grumpiness and needs sorting Please.
Very well done to Micky Boy 46 for the win , and to all skippers for a great day of racing , also all the helpers,

DF 65 Summer Series round 1, 24th April 2022
Steady start to the Summer series with 11 skippers out to play. The breeze dictated it was A rig although a few tried to chance their arm with A + but the gusts were to frequent and strong for that kit to survive. Great to see a fairly long term absentee Phil Harpham back , and very quickly back to his best, Keith H 669 was straight into his winning ways with three bullets on the bounce followed by a second and that left the rest of the fleet scrambling to catch up, Jen H 69 was the best of the rest and would not let go, some say like a dog with a bone ,, with some fine sailing. Roger Bowtle finally was getting the best out of his boat and held the rest at bay.
It was definitely not Mick C’s 46 day as he was going backwards after the first race where he held on too second spot, eventually his winch packed up and he lost races 4 and 5 luckily coffee break helped him out to give him more time. Mike W 76 was getting some good average scores but just needed to Master the extremely difficult conditions with shifts and gusts that had the whole fleet skipping in frustration. Phil H 44 was enjoying himself , as was Alan Bradley , Pete W 26 back again after all sorts of dramas had a problem that was insurmountable in race 6 and had to retire , and Gordon B 23 assistant OOD despite the full length course gave a good showing, Ed W is improving week on week and Alan E 890 was always going to be up against it with a B rig on. The days win went to Keith and he deserved the applause for a great showing and the win with 8 points from 9 races , pretty good achievement. Well Done .
Many thanks to the helpers, and all the skippers for making a frustrating day a happy one
