I.O.M SUMMER SERIES ROUND 7

Round 7 of the i.o.m summer series saw light winds and nice sunshine as 11 competitors came to the line. The westerly breeze was light and very fluky, and at times almost non existent. Jen Hand started well but Dave Thomas quickly got into his stride sailing his Fraktal 2 and continued with a series of very consistent results, That saw him eventually win the event after ten races, Mick C dropped his brand new V9 in the water for the first time and using an old A rig and had some fun, Jen hand has now borrowed a book, that will almost undoubtedly improve her performances and help her obtain the consistency that we all crave. I am not at liberty to disclose the name of the book at this stage. All in all,  a great days racing in challenging conditions. On the day we also welcomed three visitors and a chap from Retford called Steve who seems very keen to get started in our fantastic sport, results below and well done to winner Dave Thomas.

I would also like add that a lot of work has been going on at the lake recently with the Nationals looming, and a lot of members have put in a good few hours on the work parties, We all need to be grateful to those members who have put in their time and have had to forgo there racing temporarily.

IOM Summer Championship Round 5 9th August 2015

Another fantastic day at Scotland farm saw 12 contestants including one visitor, Stephan Haywood showing off his brand new Britpop and getting some great results even though not fully tuned. Jen Hand was race officer for the day and did a grand job keeping everybody in order and very happy with the 2 lap course which was sailed from the East bank with a full top suit breeze from the South West. conditions were warm and sunny and the sailing and racing were some of the best we have seen at the lake this year.A number of boats had wins and some very close seconds but at the end of the day it was Dave Burke who won through to take the win on the day. 10 races were sailed in the allotted 3 hours.

Many thanks to those who came down early and helped out with the minor tasks that always need to be done before racing starts
