Dress code ” SCRUFFS ”

The weather was fine for this inaugural meet for the Mid Week Series – so fine that the Bosun was moved to give the work party a day off and get straight to the sailing.

Obviously out of the goodness of his heart…. nothing to do with getting his new Alioth onto the water….

In the lightest of airs we all had a few practise runs/drifts and then a coffee break to allow the wind to fill.

Fortunately it did and went a little westerly, so we were able to use the short course on the East Bank and get 10 races in;

Good close racing for the most part… 

Micky (Mr. Consistency) stole the day by 1 point from Kev who was really flying at times.

Holmesy had 4 Firsts… 3 of those in a row… but a few lower placings kept him off the top step.

even Ron managed a win… but only by dint of an obscure racing rule that allows a complete dunderhead who unexpectedly finds himself first to the leeward mark, to drag every one the wrong way round it.

How we laughed ! but it wasn’t going to change the world order so…

everyone went home happy.

The next Mid Week Series meet is on Wednesday 15th April and we hope to attract some more club members with their IOMs.
