I.O.M Summer series round Seven
Light on numbers but high on quality , and the racing was of the highest order.
Six skippers showed, and racing started on the East bank, or was prepared anyway, and then ten minuets before the start the expected vere came in and we quickly shifted Thanks to Pete W to the South bank.
Pete W 65 was off to a great start winning the first four races with no reply, A right old battle was going on behind him, and the course and racing was first class, In races five and six Pete let Mick C 46 in and he took full advantage, The Venti’s were on fire today that’s for sure, but with so many missing through Holidays , clashes , and other things, that cant be explained, we shall have to wait for another day, before bragging rights can be established.
Many thanks to everybody for helping get organised and putting stuff away, great effort, with racing being sailed exactly how it should be. Well Done Pete, and also well done to Pete H 60, for consistency that could be hard to match , Get those shrouds sorted Pete and we can get the boat up to speed , promise .

DF 65 Summer series round 3, 26th June 2022
The forecast was warm and sunny with 17kts gusting 22Kts from the south, it was all of that but from anywhere between ESE to WSW, it was constantly changing and very difficult to deal with.
We sailed off the east bank with a dog leg splitting the beat into two. Six skippers turned up but only four made it to the start of the first race. Alan B. 0 had rig problems whilst Mike W. 76 had to replace a failing rudder servo. Alan N and Jen got the rig problems sorted for Alan in time for the second race.
Dave R 180 set the pace from the off by taking the first two bullets and then five of the remaining six. A very strong performance, persevering with his A suit. Jen was never far away, also started with an A suit, changed down to her B and then back up to her A. She has become very adapt at rig changing…..
There was some close racing throughout the fleet for the whole morning with positions being swapped regularly mainly due to the severe wind shifts. Thanks to MaryAnn for the starts and scoring.
Congratulations to Dave R 180 1st, Jen H 69 2nd and Mike W 76 3rd. Although the racing was very competitive all was conducted in a polite and courteous manner, resulting in a very enjoyable morning
Write up by Mike W , many thanks for that .

I.O.M Summer series round 6, 19th June 2022
Write up , By Dave Rigby , Many thanks Dave
Sunshine and a moderate breeze from the East welcomed the competitors for the latest round of the IOM Summer Series.
Dave and Graham set a course on the South Bank with three good beats despite the wind fluctuating by several degrees.
Numbers were down with 5 regulars away at open meetings and father’s day further reduced numbers to 6 keen competitors. oh and 1 off with Covid , Roger was severely compromised having forgotten his A Rig Jib so was relegated to using his B rig. There were only a few occasions when the wind increased enough to make him competitive. Having said that he made a very good account of himself during the days racing.
Dave was first out of the blocks taking race one from Kevin and Mike. Dave’s win was to be repeated for the next five races with Kevin and Mike trading places following some very close racing.
Graham suffered rig issued which were resolved at the coffee break improving his performance during the second session.
Race 7 saw the wheels come off for Dave, Roger did not see him on the start line and sailed into him with the boats becoming entwined. Mike made the most of the opportunity and sailed into a good lead. Dave and Roger managed to get untangled and Dave set off in pursuit of the fleet. Mike held his nerve and took the win from Dave with Graham a well-deserved third. Race 8 saw Mike and Dave pull clear of the fleet but they became too concerned with their race to see Graham go to the right of the beat and get a lift into the finish taking a well-deserved win from Dave with Mike third.
Race 8 saw the emergence of the weed as Dave picked up a great clump up the second beat. Mike did not need a second opportunity he sailed away to an easy victory from Graham with Dave recovering to Third after a pit stop.
Race 10 saw Dave back to winning ways from Mike and Kevin.
Congratulations to the winners with Dave taking the win, Mike second, and Kevin Third.
It was a great morning racing in an excellent spirit with all enjoying the mornings activity.

DF 95 Summer series round Three 12th June 2022
Another fine day at Lincoln, 11 skippers showed up to some great racing conditions, Breeze around 8 to 10 knots from the West south West and racing was on the South bank, The OOD’s did a great job in sorting the course which had a nice little dog leg giving two shorter beats close to the bank. We welcomed Graham K 79 to the DF 95 fleet and by all accounts he thoroughly enjoyed his morning.
Mick C got off to a great start taking the first win, it seemed the start was very much to his liking and many more clean get away starts. The beats were as per usual very shifty, and one wrong move could take you from hero to _______ yes you guessed it Jen H 69 got the 2nd in race one and followed through with a bullet in race two. Kevin E 02 missed the first race for some reason or other but he and Mike W 76 were having a great battle just off the lead and for first time out Graham K 79 was close to joining in, Racing was close up and down the fleet, it was a fantastic day with wind and weather combining to make it very pleasurable, (Now I have just remembered) Mike W asked for redress in one race, I forgot all about it till sorting this write up, so If Mike could furnish full details to me, I will chat with Pete W to see if we can award, some kind of redress . The day belonged to Mick C 46 , he seemed to be unstoppable scoring 8 points from 9 races including five on the bounce, Pete W 768 had a close run in with Jen H 69 with only one point separating them, well done to all skippers and helpers for the mornings activities , it really was a great days racing
