IOM Summer Championship and DF 95 Summer Series Round 5
Quite a nice morning greeted the skippers for round 5 , and we had 9 skippers in the I.O.M, and 3 for the DF 95 class , quite a good turnout in all as the weather was forcasting only 4/5 knots of breeze, as it was we had slightly more , 7/8 knots from the west. It turned out to be a little frustrating due to some floaty weed which affected most skippers, I dont really think it affected the result. Everybody took the floaty stuff in good spirit and as we all know that this time of the year it is a hindrence to our racing. We welcomed Malcolm as a visitor, and express our thanks to race team Neil Coleman and Peter Cogill and all the helpers who did a fab job. results below and well done to Chris for his victory on the day.

The Df fleet slightly reduced due to Holidays and Mick C joining the I.O.M fleet , it looks like Gordon had a bad day , or else Ed is getting the hang of it .Ivan came out as clear winner with 4 bullitts in 7 races .
Thanks to everybody who turned up and made it an enjoyable if not frustrating morning .

Dragon Force 65 Summer Series Round 4 16th July 2017
8 skippers turned out for a fine but frustrating mornings sailing. The weather was fine with a gentle westerly just allowing use of the East bank. A fairly long course for 65’s resulted in 8 races being sailed. The weed was frustrating but appeared to evenly distributed amongst the competitors which resulted in 4 different skippers winning the first 4 races.
Thanks to Gordon and Roger for their efforts as Duty Officers

Martin Lambert Memorial Trophy Inc I.O.M summer series round 4 9th July 2017
A first class summers day greeted the skippers but with only a knot or two of wind the first few races were going to be tricky, Mick C had a secret weapon ( sorry its a secret) for the light air with his V9 and bagged a bullitt in the first two races, closely followed by last years winner also with a V9 David Alston. By race 4 the breeze had become a nice south westerly 5 to 8 knots and racing was conducted on the East bank, one or two bits of the floaty green stuff, affected most skippers at some stage and yes it is frustrating but in reality it did not affect the racing that was held in high humour throughout. By 11am the sun was beating down and 25C was recorded, the breeze increased as the day wore on, and some fantastic close racing ensued. Some of the skippers brought their wives who very generously helped man the finish line and input the scores into the computer, they aslo had plenty of time for a chat and thoroughly enjoyed their day. Grainne Lambert came along to present the prizes on probably the best summers day this year. Many thanks to all the helpers and the good behaviour on the bank. It was nice to see a wide selection of I.O.M designs 7 out of 9 boats. Also nice to see three or four Visitors and potential new members having a look at what we do, we hope they return and come and have a go.
Results below nice to see the V9 winning two years in a row .

IOM Summer Championship Round 4 and DF95 Summer Series Round 4 2nd July 2017
Round Four I.O.M summer championship + Round four DF 95 summer series
Fantastic morning at Scotland Farm small turnout but quality all the way. First up 7 skippers contested the Championship , and with the wind in the North West the South bank was used. This bank is shallower than the East bank and at this time of the year weed growth can be a problem, I am happy to say that although there were one or two bits of Floaty nobody was adversely affected and on Inspection the weed growth seems to have receded. The wind was a good steady 10 knots allowing a rig to be used all morning but by the time the last race was sailed at 12 45 there was a bit of diving down wind. Results below With Mick Cooper taking it on countback with his 1st place in race 2 from Alan Newman . many thanks to Roger and Ed for sorting everything out for us and for the good humour on the South bank. The two different classes seem to work well together with a minute between starts, keeping the fleets well seperated.
DF 95 round 4 summer series .

The DF 95 fleet had a new skipper Peter Webster, But it seems there is no holding back Alan Edgar, pretty new to sailing 12 months ago and with four wins from ten races !!!! gordon and Ivan will need to raise their games, Ed unfortunately had a burn out on his winch, and Peter W had some good results with a second and several thirds, well done to all for a great mornings racing.
