DRAGON FORCE WINTER SERIES 2014-5 ROUND 7 27th MARCH 2015

The final round of this series broke the mould. We had wind! At least to begin with and it was heavily loaded with rain. Both wind and rain increased steadily up to around mid-day then both died away to nothing. Back to normal! Racing was very tight with, as the results show, 4 boats with the same score for 3rd place.

Dragon Force Winter Series 2014-5 Round 6

Once again the weather wizard had worked out that we were running a DFRG race! By race start time 7 skippers were ready and the wind was trying to blow from the SE. After a frustrating race?? up and down the south bank a coffee break was called to recover. By about 11.00 the wind had decided to try to blow from the South and subsequently provided a reasonable mornings sailing up and down the East bank.

FINAL ROUND OF IOM WINTER SERIES 15th MARCH 2015

An unusual NE wind was blowing with enough strength to make the early arrivals think about B rigs. By the start of sailing it had dropped enough to cause some last minute changes to A rig and it continued to drop all morning but was still enough to provide some good sailing all day. There were enough bouys on the lake to allow a good course without adjustment.

Results follow.

The first race of the Summer Series will be on 19th April.

OPEN DAY SUCCESS at Scotland Farm

P1040367

Lincoln Model Yacht club held its open day on Sunday 8th March and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of visitors who came to try out this addictive sport/hobby . It was a little chilly early on and a course for the less experienced skipper was set up close to the south bank , and a fairly long race course with a windward / leeward theme was set up for the more experienced , with some great racing Young and old alike came to try , and all were pleasantly surprised by the skill needed to get the best out of the yachts , many members were on hand to help and advise and the club welcomed RC yachts all the way from Kent with a selection of Joysway products including the Very popular Dragon Force and also a Catamaran not seen before at Scotland Farm .  RC yachts also had a large variety of spares on hand and had a lot of good advise to newcomers to the Sport . Also on show, fresh from the manufacturer was the latest I.O.M from C/M yachts, its owner John Tushingham was very pleased and it will get its first trial in Malta in two weeks time when a number of British skipper attend the Maltese open championship, which two Members of the Lincoln club have been invited to attend.

The rain came down around 130pm but did not dampen spirits , Most dragons were down to B suits and the I.O.M soon followed . Tea, coffee, pork pie , and some loverly cup cakes from Tricia Dinmore kept our spirits high as the rain came down. All in all a very enjoyable day was had by all with many smiling faces and possible some new members for the club which will take membership way beyond the 30 mark . Pictures below are not the greatest quality but give you an idea of what went on .
