The day dawned with a lot of promise for the eleven competitors , but a chill breeze from the North had  the skippers wrapping up from what appeared to be a winters morning albeit with a little sunshine, 2 newish AB4’s were on the water and although not with optimum set up both went quite well. Jim Dinmore showed continued improvement with his boat GBR 90 and gained a fourth in race 3 . Martin Lambert ran out the easy winner on the day with six first places in the 9 race event,

Probably the worst turnout we have had this year for all sorts of reasons , Holidays , Kit failure , Failure to read the calendar, etc etc , but we did have 6 Dragons out on a lovely day for sailing top suit and a good steady North easterly breeze. Two laps of a windward leeward course  took the leaders about 17/18 minutes to complete the course. Martin was desperate to stamp his authority early on with Chaz and Bob fighting to hang in there, but as we all know consistency is the key and with Martin taking the the 10 races and ending with only 9 points, it shows what is needed to win a series. Looking at Bobs results it was disappointing to see he did not win a race, perhaps a relaxing week in New York will give him renewed vigour , Norman was not really feeling himself after scoffing a whole bar of chocolate, Jim is improving with every week and Gordon keeps plugging away and with a new winch fitted only hours before the event may well have been a little stressed , results below and a few pics below that

Scotland Farm will be the venue for the Clive Hand Memorial trophy and MDWS1 on the 12th October . For all those who wish to sail the on-line entry is now open on the MYA website calendar.

Some of the very best Skippers from the Midlands and beyond will be racing , Please get your entry in early to avoid disappointment. If you do not wish to sail in the event but wish to help out on the day please let Mick know A.S.A.P
