I.O.M SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 + DF 95 SUMMER SERIES ROUND 1
Oh what a day . The first round of the championship was sailed in bright sunshine with a steady westerly making some great A rig sailing conditions. Only 7 competitors !!!!!!!!!! say no more ,. Today was the first also of a fleet of Dragon Force 95,s I say a fleet 4 turned up and 3 raced , read more about it further down the page. But back to the Championship, We also had the pleasure of Jill Burke who came all the way from Stalybridge to do our scoring, Thanks Jill, and also a new member to our club came racing Keith Holmes also with his loverly wife Sue, we hope you enjoyed your maiden sail at the club, and we see more of you in the future. Also down for a flying Visit was Graham Allen delivering goodies for the new club house with his girlfriend. The racing , well for once the V9 brigade showed the BritPops the way round, and it is not often I say that , but in all honesty I hope it is a trend that continues , With a few skippers away at the Midland event, some playing with cars and others still wiping the sleep from their eyes, we were always going to struggle with numbers , but the racing was great, we learn a bit about the rules, and we had a great time . Many thanks to RO Dave B and assistant Ed W for a stirling job, dealing with an unusual direction , ( we sailed for the south bank ) and also did 11 races , results below .
For the first time a fleet of DF 95’s raced at Scotland Farm , could have been 4 boats but in the end was only 3 . We started the DF’s 2 minutes before the I.O.M and it worked very well in that the whole fleet finished very close together . Well a very good start for Ivan , But I have to say Gordon will be seeing the optician on Wednesday as several marks hit his boat and he had to do plenty of turns Ed is progressing well with his sailing and was pleased with the performance of the boat . Th club now has 5 Dragon flite’s 95 and it will be good to see them all on the water at the same time , now the weather is warming up let there be no excuses. Well done to Ivan Results below

DRAGON FORCE & RG 65 WINTER SERIES ROUND EIGHT
An absolute glorious day greeted the 9 competitors for this final round of the series and apart from being a P/P turnout everybody had a great time. After an early inspection of the new clubhouse Sailing started with a south-east breeze that backed steadily allowing some good racing from the South bank, with the RO Jen Hand and Gordon Bennett getting things organized racing started bang on time . The breeze was about 10 knots so nobody was fully pressed. Series favorite Mick C struggled for the first two races with Bob G and Phil H taking the early honours, Mick C then found his form with 4 wins in the next five races. It appeared that some skippers were trying out different settings, opting on putting the mast much further forward than normal in a hole on the deck obviously reserved for other use, help was at hand during the tea break as this realignment was not working, and a more conventional setting was used, the skipper concerned found the boat was transformed and very quickly gained a second place in the very next race ,,,,, Lucky because I did at one point see the rough end of a hacksaw coming out of a bag . Bob G was sailing conservatively as was Chris C and at the end of the day they tied on equal points with Bob G just getting it on count back. Mick C had rudder failure on race 9 and was out, Gordon B failed to capitalize despite some great results whilst sat in his armchair on the south bank.
Well done everybody and for those who missed it what can I say , you missed the best day of the year so far
Summer is here and the summer series for all classes starts next week at Scotland farm .
I.O.M WINTER SERIES ROUND SEVEN
10 competitors turned out for this the final round of the I.O.M winter series, No report on the racing unfortunately, but word has it that it was an enjoyable morning. The morning was won by Neil Coleman with his Cheinz , closely followed by Alan Newman with his AB4, Bob Geary will be disappointed with his mornings work after some strong showings in previous races , results below and the final series will be posted a little later in the week.
I.O.M WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND SEVEN
10 Competitors turned out for round seven on a crisp sunny morning with a good south west wind that needed B suits for all ten races, A brand new Brit Pop was on show in an unusual colour (White) but it did not lack performance in the capable hands of skipper Darin B, Chris Elliott and Mick Chamberlain made valiant attempts to close the flying machine down but the result was final with six wins in ten races. Good sailing was again seen by the Lintel and Gadget of Mick Cooper and Bert W, Joe H had some good moments and Chaz J was very consistent, Tracy Ballington was sailing her new red BritPop and what a difference it made to her performance, well done Tracy, and watch out Jen H .
Good work was done by the race team the two Mick C’s after retrieving the clubhouse roof from a field with Bert W following the previous day’s storm, all undamaged I might add .
thanks to all for a great mornings racing. This was the last in the Winter series, so keep your eye on the calendar for the start of the summer series.
